actually, that's one of the selling points of Promix & B'Cuzz... not amended with any of that crap... slight starter nutes & that's it.

mix your nute solution (chem or organic) & just top feed... no mixing of the peat necessary.

Add 20-30 % perlite to your promix to enhance aeration slightly, that is all you need to add.

Feed with a complete nutrient regimen like General Hydroponics or some other form of a two part Grow & Bloom nutrient program. This is the intended use of promix. Simply fill your pots with promix and feed with nutrients that you add to the water. Pretty easy with really good results.

Agree with Forbidden 100%. Extra perlite is all I use as well. If you can find PM HP, extra perlite is not needed.
You can add what ever you want to it, it's just not needed if using a good line of fertz.

If I can find it, Pro mix MVP is what I've been getting. Black bales with no mycorise in it. Only time I've had gnats was while using BX with the mycorise in it????

no need to amend anything. promix works best with hydro nutes. it is a soil-less medium after all. if you want to "organic" it... then throw in some dried kelp, worm castings, guano, bonemeal, bloodmeal, etc...
most gnats and aphids come from the storage warehouses and/or hydro shops. promix is known for bugs and coco is even worse.
treat your vegetative plants with IMID. your bug problems should be gone for good. azatrol and gnatrol are organic but not as effective (especially in large gardens).

.....

If you have ProMix BX
(15% Perlite) you can but don't have to add some more perlite.

If you have ProMix HP
(30% Perlite) leave it alone.

Other than the ProMix use one fertilizer each for growing and vegging & nothing else.

I just finished a grow
(see my signature) and pulled 8lbs with just that basic fertilizer and 4x1KW.

I have listed within my thread which ferts I was using.

Good posts in this thread. I run B'cuzz Pro-Mix right out of the bag (nothing added) and feed (with every watering) with Jack's Classic ferts. Very simple, very easy. The results can be seen in my gallery.

B'cuss is the same thing I use just w/o the mycorrhizae in it.

Many question mycorrhizae
(although I don't).

You got an excellent - very efficient - choice there!

The OP mentioned compost an chicken shit. I wish people were not turning him away from organics. pro mix does not "work best" with hydro.

20-30% (OF YOUR TOTAL MIX.. meaning including what's already there) perlite (or other aeration amendment) is ideal for organics. Compost should also be between 20-30 percent.

use blood and bone if you got it.

6p promix
2p perlite
2p compost
1 cup per cubic foot (or 2 tbsp per gallon) or lime
That is your substrate

try to get kelp meal (@1 tbsp per gall) for K and maybe greensand for more
and rock dusts.. they are great, specially if you wanna resuse

for ferts.. blood will supply the N... do .5 cup per cu ft.
bone will cover P.. do 1 cup per.

water only from there.

hope that helps a bit. You don't have to go hydro.

Just remember... once you mix it in, you can't go back. I like to keep it simple, and then add what I want with my feedings, much more control. I just use some straight roots soil which takes me all the way through veg, and then topdress with EWC in flowering to keep the low N steady, and feed with General Hydroponics nutrients, lucas formula. Easy as fuck.

But if you just have pro-mix rock the soiless hydro and just feed every watering. Screw mixing a bunch of soil. But, if you're set on mixing up your soil to improve it... Then add some EWC and some perlite. 6-2-2 promix, ewc, perlite. Add dolimite if you like, I stopped using it a while back. Had some issues, been fine since I stopped using it. Don't know what it really was, but it hasn't bothered me since. So, who cares. No deficiencies/lock-out.

EWC??? what is that?? ... and a big thanks to everyone for their input...:cathug::cathug:

and since we bought the large GN nutes.. i think they are 2 1/2 gallons, we will use that .. we are normally hydro (waterfarm) growers with canna nutes, but after reading about the lucas formula with GN nutes, took the plunge and bought a shitload of GN, and immed noticed in the waterfarms that the ladies are very (very) light green.. they have recovered somewhat as we have been adding some GN grow (bought a quart).. but hate stressing the ladies.. so now it will be 'soil' from now on...

we have some plants growing in plain promix, and watering em with the same low dose of nutes we are using in the waterfarms, and the diff is amazing... the ladies in soil are kickin ass...

imidacloprid...

Isn't this one thing held partially responsible for the death of Bee colonies?

Yeah but only if you plan on

A having bees @ your indoor grow

B Plan on keeping male plants outdoors 'cos those are the ones Bees would feel attracted by. Bees do not go on female MJ plants outdoors.

PS to my above post:

The Imi would only kill bees if you were to apply it by foliar "feeding".

It kills bugs which eat from and suck on plants and/OR directly come in contact with Imi when it was applied as a foliar spray.
