Its tough to have friends as a grower. You have to trust the people in your life because it only takes getting jacked or ripped once and you'll find it hard not to trust no one. So we tend to not make friends without having them be completely trust worthy. I know that the people in my life are much like family. You need family. You need people in your life in that you can rely on, as the bigger you get, the more work it takes. I find that there's a fine balance that one needs to maintain and sometimes that is hard. I go out once and a while and will heard some young grower at a bar talking about their grow, trying to be the man and get those hot chicks. Ahhh stupid youth. When I go out with my friend we don't talk about growing, as I have schooled all of my friends that there is to be no talking about the grow to the general public. I have to remind some of my friends when they get a little to much to drink in them! I have my story as to what I do to make a living and I sure don't want that hot chick that only wants to hook up with me because of what I do. Its a good life but a life that has its risks. I wouldn't have it any other way!

I have the hardest time picking up the phone to just "hang out". I do have a hobby that gets groups of people together though. That's a lot easier for me because we always have a topic (the hobby) to talk about, so its never awkward.

i can play sports and do things with people and have good conversation, but the long-term shit and other little things like a facebook life or tweeter life and the 'so what'd you do today' 'how was work' 'i wanna know more about you' type of shit is whack.. not to mention what your new group of friends talk about behind your back when you aren't there. 'hmm there's more to him' 'how does he afford such nice things'

Great thread, was expecting a general yes but maybe not THIS much. definite loner, always have been. I believe most of us are introverts by nature, which is not a bad thing, especially when people understand this about you. I know my close group of friends all understand above, and are very accepting etc. Being an introvert and doing my own thing is what led me to smoke in the first place actually. I've never been much of a team player person lol so most of my hobbies are solo. Growing, snowboarding, guitar etc. Idk about anyone else but I just don't enjoy small talk.. just annoys me after a while, so generally just don't make the effort..
I actually don't know anyone IRL that grows, it definitely sucks. Maybe one or two ppl with a plant or two, which is still a good convo, but no 'real' growers...

Good Philosophy! Interesting topic, I think it varies, All my better friends are either growers or part of the business in some way but I wouldnt say i am a loaner.. Think it varies group by group, person by person, Some groups ive meet are al nice and accepting, others are more to themselves.. just depends,

definetely yes..that being said, Soft and Craven without all those great nugs i grew enticing all that sweet pussy i would'nt of found my most sexy awesome growing partner for the last 20yrs..we still have a social life just with ourselves mostly..i always think it would be great to know other growers in real life, party, discuss, share..then i say to myself would it realy be kool?..yrs. of growing in a backasswards state as made me untrustworthy of people and slightly paranoid..

i've always been a loner type fellow..after i quit drinkin,even more so..the 3 other hobbies i have(guitar,sports gambling,and reading) tend to be "by myself" type of things..only 4 people are welcomed at my house..son,daughter,sister,and lady friend..you just cannot trust people..these young punks will try and rob you if they think you've got a bottle of tylenol...my social life consists of aa meetings,library, and the grocery store..lol
35 years of dealing with the public as a servant developed my social skills into a decrepit, disillusioned, depressed, dessicated dickweed. but now i'm better.
not by much, but not having to deal with folks makes my days.

i'm def a londer...got my kids and my girl. my brothers. and 2 friends. none of which know where i grow.
Things change the older one gets. Do I have many friends? None. I have acquaintances. I'm social with the other parents at school. Having a friend takes a commitment that most people don't want Bottom line is the only people that I can count on are my family.
I need to mention that I live in a state that is very, very anti MJ; to such a degree that I must be nuts to be doing what I do... if caught they flip a coin; heads they take you out into a field and shoot you, tails they just take you from your loved one for years.

Not sure if I'm that far gone, but I just noticed that I maybe living amongst real live zombies. It really is incredible how many dumb people that one has to deal with on a day to day basis. I even offered to check the tellers pulse at the bank the other day...
