i don't have many regular friends, my choice really, don't really have to much free time to chill with people. i have more growing friends then regular friends.....

i notice that ever since i have been growing a tad big, last 8 or so years, the amount of regular friends have gone down......

i also notice that this is common in our growing group. not that its a secret between all of us, we just kinda keep to ourselves.....

i understand being more of a loner in non med states where the penalties are hard and you don't want a soul to know that you grow....

but, is this normal? are growers more of a loner kind of group?

i would have to agree, better friends for sure......

my friends are golden to me and would do anything for me and visa versa, my friends shined bright after i got busted...

or is it the other way around? or does it take that type of person to be the grower?

i just happen to be that way regardless. grower or not.

it is interesting to think about, and have always thought about this myself. im sure there will be many different theories and answers on this one.

my dogs never seem to be conjuring up pathetic skanks every half hour, like so many of our brothers and sisters...LOL so i guess apart from being amazed when i come across genuine people,i'm pretty much the loner type most of the time :)

Most growers that I know got into the game for two reasons:

1) love of the plant, obviously.
2) they couldn't/didn't want to socialize and deal with the interpersonal games required of a standard corporate career.

I know that if/when this hustle runs dry, I'll be in trouble. I have social anxiety and can't get along in a corporate career. Tried, and failed. I try not to think about it.

So, in brief, yes. My brother is an attorney, makes good money, and says he'd hate my life. I think most people would. If you require any kind of peer approval, don't be a pot grower. Most think we're scum; even if they support legalization, they are jealous of our hustle.

In this way, I think it's a mixed bag of both negative attributes and positive ones. For me, the negative attribute that pushed me to growing was my social anxiety. The positive attribute is severe bad-ass cognitive dissonance; I don't give a snails kunt-hole who respects what I do and who thinks I should get the electric chair. That's an easy thing to say, but is deceptively difficult to practice IMO.

Cool thread. Should be interesting, so long as people be honest about their flaws and don't strut their chest.:tiphat:

kinda lead the double life.

i really like my alone time, helps keep me balanced. but if i dont go out at least once or twice a week and get some serious socializing in i go into depressed hermit mode.

mixed bag. i just dont really talk about it with my friends since they dont really understand.

I'm the definition of a loner. Can't even stand going to the supermarket, even went as far as to have my groceries delivered, so I didn't have to associate with people I don't want to talk to. What few friends I had I considered golden, would have done anything I could possibly do for them but they didn't understand my secluded/opinionated ways or just got tired of me, I'm not sure which. Now it's just me and my best friend, God. I'm an extreme case when it comes to being a loner, part of why I medicate.
Stay Golden Krunch, your obviously one of the good people.

wow, i am kinda shocked at what everyone is saying and the poll results so far!!!

i think about the conversation with my non growing friends and its still about weed and what i do....

maybe im socially retarded? my life is about weed, from the second i wake up to the moment i go to sleep....

i also do have extreme social anxiety, but i have learned to manage it better, could also be a reason why i am a loner....

i really don't mind it to tell you the truth......

Definitely agree with what you said krunch about having more grower friends than regular friends. All the regular friends I've still got I've had since middleschool... Every once in a while I'll start chilling with normal people, but I usually find them to be untrustable with little things so they get dropped quick.

Honestly if getting laid without dealing with squares was easier I'd be a straight up hermit.

I used to not be a loner because I liked to get laid too much. I would go out to bars all the time and parties. I also kept a lot of contacts and that was how I moved my product. I have a lot of friends that I have known forever and a day, but these days I keep to myself. As soon as I turned 25 I started calming down. The lady took a lot of life out of me as well.

non med-state here.

i sense a bit of jealousy from a couple of my older regular friends. It's like they are mad they don't have the balls to do what we do; but want the reward. Or they try to think they are kool with their 2.5 GPA state college degree and shitty job they hate.

Yeh i think when i was younger i had a more active social life (still mid 20's now)

Some friends still party hard, others have mellowed now they have careers etc

I think the illegality of it has a big part to play in how well you can get to know people (new friends) but you also value or often discover who your true friends are.

Even where it is semi-legal you still have to be careful...

Also i don't like to be too far from my grow just incase, so is quite a responsibility i think

When you are a grower you pay more attention to details (hopefully) and you choose friends more carefully I believe in real life. The unfortunate truth is most people are idiots and careless so those individuals quickly get culled from your circle if you want to keep growing :good:

Does this make you a loner? Kind of.

I like to call it Survival of the Fittest ;)

growing is a huge responsibility. so many 'regular folk' have no fucking clue the shit we go through and handle each and every day.

also, the jealous haters love to tell themselves that we are dumb and are going to get caught so they feel better about working their shit jobs and trying to fit in on tweeter

i fucking love what i do and i've learned a lot about 'regular' society that disgusts me.

another thing to note is inddor vs outdoor.

tend to have a lot more freedom when im growing outdoor because i can have people over and not be paranoid about people seeing or smelling it.

and when you grow especially in a non med state you dont want sketchy people around you. you have to turn to the few people you know you can trust. you dont want rats or theives knowing you grow so you have to be more selective of who you let in
