Hi oo!

How was your stuff?

Are we going to see OldOne's 4th cab run-still the same, but betterer soon?

I hope so.

Maybe you can put some scorpions in the box or something.

Crawling around.

That would make it exciting to document.

"Plant is good. I didn't die today. But I don't know where those fuckers are. My heart is racing. Growing is so exciting."

"Plant still good. I, however, almost died today trying to scrog. Little bastards learned how to jump. What the hell is that all about? Who the shit-toast* ever heard of jumping scorpions?"

You know, your log will be full of good shit like that.

You could put in feminized scorpions. Like Jurassic Park. And just wonder when nature would get a hold of 'em and they'd start to slip genetic code and hermi and reproduce. You'd be all like, "There's one, two, three. All good." And then a herd of fucking velocoscorpions would surround you, clicking and chirping. And then then you'd be fucked. 'Cause there ain't no one who can get out of that shit. No one.

*shit-toast is a term from oo's hometown. Strange. I know. But sometimes the truth is more shit-toasted than fiction.

Yeah but he's funny as hell and he writes well too.

I'll make it 3 whole dollars...how can he resist?

Sweet grow DevilWeed, congratulations! So does that make it 4 or 5 completed PPK grows? (D9, IF, DevilWeed and myself)

Lurking every day,
OO

so thats, um, $4 bucks - i assume all US lol. I'll toss in another $4 bucks, but the cash has to go to ICMAG or they'll roast us :D

Thanks for the compliments guys. :D

I need a bigger scale...2 zips at a time is a slow process. :D:D

So it's been about 5 days. Everything went into cure today.
Current weight: 21.5oz! I'm stunned. Also remembered I left the colas that I hand trimmed out of that bucket pic so that explains the extra. D9, I feel like I should be sending you a few zips as royalties!

I cure to about 60% RH and expect to loose another oz or so. But...20+....holy shit am I a happy camper. I can only imagine what I'll be able to do once I have a couple surrounded by 4 bulbs. 10gal PPK's + 4kw = 3lb's maybe? We shall see...

I would have come back sooner, finished the thread about a week ago and took a bunch of notes, but I didn't have anything to ask or add. My first question, about pruning and the meticulous way you started out answered itself... I don't remember how exactly youre pruning in veg, but also read IF's entire thread (props too) and he seems to want to chop the front to test max contrariness. About the only practical question I had, apart from DF was about other media. Rockwell in part. I have a friend who had some rooted clones in rockwool, 1 inch inside 4 inch, and I couldn't advise on whether it'd be acceptable to run a PPK in pure rockwell since I don't know either its porosity or height of PWT.

I know you hate requests delta, but how about a rockwell run? I'd pay a dollar to see that.

hey, i actually have zero experience with rockwool. i hate installing insulation though.

i really don't mind people asking me to do experiments and sometimes i'll do them for other people if it is also something i want to do.

what i take exception to is someone who asks me and i respectfully decline for some reason, then they continue to pursue it. gentlemen can take a hint.

and now i'll formally decline to touch rockwool myself but i'm sadistic enough to watch someone else fail with it.

why not take the rooted clones in the rockwool blocks and put it all in a bucket of coco?

i'm not pruning or defoliating in veg anymore but i am doing a selective defoliation at the end of stretch. just the one time. this is a proven weight gainer for my strain.

well, welcome aboard again and i hope you grow some whoppers. i grow a plant a week like this and one of the nice things about it is that i get to smoke high grade weed and hash all day long every day. for medicinal purposes only, of course.

IF, we should do a movie like "jackass grows weed". i like the scorpion idea. maybe throw in a cobra or a fer-de-lance or something and the last thing you do before you throw em in is bitch slap 'em a few times just to produce a little attitude.

maybe walk a tight wire over an electrified pool of water. you would have to take a couple of ludes before you try it.

i think it's ironic that a drug manufacturer would name a lude a 714 as that is sgt joe friday's badge number on "dragnet".

9er, I had to look up what a fer-de-lance was. I can only imagine how you've come to know such critters... and if I owe you a thanks, here it is again:

"Thank you for your service."

---

If it's gonna be a jackass style show, I don't want to draw the short straw and shove grow equipment up my ass and then get x-rayed. It's not that I'm prudish--I just don't think a cool tube will fit, and timers have all those pointy things... I know, its weak, but I guess I just have some limits.

---

i'm not pruning
You're breaking the back branches and training them to the front, right?

Um... I guess that constitutes 'training' and not pruning.

In semi-related stories: My 18-6 space has been overcrowded, and I've been managing overall size and internode length by defoliating staggering/pruning every four side branches. As I'm now 'fully' in cycle, my plant density is coming in alignment with my design. My plan (as of now) is to allow natural growth in 18-6 through the first couple weeks of flower then open her up for light penetration. I'm looking for stretch in my setup...

---

If we can accept that great minds think alike, can we also accept that retards might too?

If so, D9, you may want to reconsider your plan because it seems pretty alike to the thinking of a not-so-genius.

Unless we can accept that geniuses and retards think alike. But then look at the mess we'd be in... no predictable way for anything to ever go right. Might as well have retards running the show. Wait a minute...

no one owes me anything, it is I who owe, this is my way of helping the “cause”.

no cool tube for you, just a hot, bare bulb.

and now breaking the front ones and training them to the sides during veg also. This lets me get more of the plant into range of the premium light. It seems to produce more large bud sites at the terminal ends of what would otherwise be “interior” branches.

hmmm! An idiot savant pot guru. But, wait a minute, don't we already have those? Cervantes, Rosenthal, the guy with the hole in the bucket.

"hey, i actually have zero experience with rockwool. i hate installing insulation though."

Ditto me, on both counts. My friend has been using it forever and is not the type to change something that works for him, especially after I mentioned the ideas about uniformity of medium and the PWT. Thanks for reclarifying the info on current defoliation after stretch only. It is that sort of openness and patience with new people on this thread that has made it such an interesting read. Really hope you are feeling better after your surgeries and that your recovery is complete and fast. Goodness knows you got to get back to being bored by your garden.

Hey IF, definitely wasn't trying to slam you... you're work in this has been extremely useful, and explanations very helpful at getting to how it all works. Definitely in keeping with deltas opening post where he said this is about exploring and sharing methods, info, and theories. It damn exciting and your contributions are appreciated for sure.

I can't say much about DevilWeeds picture except wow.

Thanks to everybody for adding to this thread, again. If I can ever get my pal to make the switchover, I'll let you know. In the meantime, I'll just keep reading.

hey DW, here's one i whacked today. this one took two people 7 hours with scissors, i'm interested in that trim pro device you mentioned.

this may be the heaviest one yet. it is also the first in a 3.5 gal bucket and was only vegged 5 weeks. i showed some pics of it a few days ago.

I start delfoliating after the 12/12 stretch. All the inards and large fans first, then a few each night. They are usually bald near harvest, makes trimming easier!

I have tried a few different things recently with good results.... If I have the room, I like to push each branch downward, sometimes tie them down to open it up for the light. The Buds tend to grow up toward the light. I have also had Great results just leaning the plant on a 45 degree angle so the light shines right thru it.

:cathug: Weird $hit happens when you are bored and curious! (lol - Bor-Curious)

yea, I sometimes take small plants and turn the pots on their side, the plants bends and it makes LST more low stress.

Here's a link that I stumbled across this morning, seems somewhat on point, approaching what seems to be a passive gardening system from the sustainability angle:

http://containergardening.wordpress.com/2007/08/14/gardening-ideas/

Most plants prefer to be watered from the top down rather than wick the water up from below through the drainage hole(s). When excess water drains out of the container, spaces open up in the potting soil and air fills those spaces. It activates the microbiological activities in the soil, which helps to make nutrients available to plant roots.

When the top of the container dries, the surface of the potting soil tries to pull moisture up from the bottom of the pot, but rarely does it all the way up to the top. So if only watering from the bottom, using a saucer full of water, it will never flush the soil. This can lead to accumulation of salt deposits on the container wall.

you and medmoose (i still think of dmoose and now bullwinkle with a stethoscope) have touched upon a phenomena that needs further exploration. you know how i also bend the branches out into the light, encouraging them to fall over between the 2 lights? well, those that fall below the level of the medium top seem to produce the largest buds. i think this has to do with plant hydraulics but i wouldn't know how to find out for sure.

i don't mind anything you do with this information. in fact, i encourage everyone to spread it around anywhere people are trying to grow their own medicine.

my wife and daughter and i trap feral cats and have them fixed, get them any treatments they need and release them. some of them just haul ass when we open the cage and some hang around. since they are all outside animals and are not socialized we don't let them into the house and did not have our "own" cat until we caught this one in one of the cages at about 4-5 mos old. my wife and have worked with her for over a year now and she is a very nice little cat. totally tame. comes when we call. follows us around everywhere. eats pot and steals hash. we had about a gram chunk out on a plate and only three entities had been in the room. me, mrs delta, and ms piggy. we still haven't found it.
