I love non fiction...helps me learn more about the world around me in a condensed form. Let others spend hours, days, weeks and months culling info and putting it into a 60+ plus presentation...kind of like Cliff notes...lol! Gimme data and not fantasy.

Roman Empire Rules Today DVD 1
Roman Empire Rules Today DVD 2 - Pretty stark, dry, and no-frills. Maybe a little religious nuttish too. It's one protestant's uncovering of all the stuff going down with the catholic church/NWO/EU/UN/jesuits etc. :hide: It freaked the shit outta me, I don't mind admitting :tiphat:

Free To Choose - This is a link to episode 1. There are 10 episodes and each goes for an hour. It's all about economics which probably sounds pretty boring but I can't recommend this highly enough. Milton Friedman is/was a very straightforward, convincing personality - see here for a quick intro to the guy, concerning his views on drugs. Episode guide here.

OUTFOXED : Rupert Murdoch's War on Journalism

Man On Wire - Dude tightrope walks the WTC towers back in the day.

The Ascent of Man - "is a thirteen-part documentary television series produced by the BBC and Time-Life Films first transmitted in 1973, written and presented by Jacob Bronowski. Intended as a series of "personal view" documentaries in the manner of Kenneth Clark's 1969 series Civilisation, the series received acclaim for Bronowski's highly informed but eloquently simple analysis, his long unscripted monologues and its extensive location shoots." Link is to part 1.

Secret Mysteries of America's Beginnings 2 - Riddles in Stone - Secret Architecture of Washington, D.C. - :hide:

Blue World, I watched few days ago first astronauts in space talking about how we live on nothing but a blue planet as 3/4 is all ocean.

Harvest, another good one as we have came from using hands to using machines.

i've been working for some time on a DOCUMENTARY MASTER LIST, filtering out the best of the best.

this only concerns the subject "understanding reality - looking behind the propaganda" or "why is our world so fucked up?"

this isn't complete yet, but i'm posting the ones that i've identified so far.

some considerable time and thought went into this list.

Psychopath (Channel 4)
(essential to understand everything that follows)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pyfY_7-hlB4
(4 parts)

The Corporation
(fantastic canadian doc)
http://www.archive.org/details/thecorporationMP4

The Shock Doctrine
(based on naomi klein's excellent book)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eHrEH5G90wo

Ring Of Power - Empire Of The City
(about the ruling elite)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4w-A54h_GQ8

Operation Gladio (BBC, 1992)
(about the terror network the allies left behind after WW2)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fB6nViwJcM

House Of Numbers - Anatomy Of An Epidemic
(must-see AIDS documentary)
http://www.novamov.com/video/aekpyzacqazwt

Klaus Dona: The Hidden History of the Human Race
(out of place archaeological artefacts)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmMwo1Xzgus

Evidence Of Revision
(JFK, MLK, RFK assassinations and more - absolutely mindblowing)
http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/evidence-of-revision/

On Modern Servitude
(about the totalitarian mercantile system we are living under)
http://www.delaservitudemoderne.org/video-en.html

Human Resources - Social Engineering in the 20th Century
http://metanoia-films.org/hr_watchonline.php

Psywar - The Real Battlefield is the Mind

and as someone already mentioned - anything from Adam Curtis is also highly recommended (the trap, century of the self, mayfair set, pandora's box, power of nightmares)

The Incredible Human Journey (about how we populated the world from a small group of humans in Africa)
BBC Everything and Nothing (In two epic, surreal and mind-expanding films, Professor Jim Al-Khalili searches for an answer to these questions as he explores the true size and shape of the universe and delves into the amazing science behind apparent nothingness.)
BBC The Joy of Stats (sounds lame but was actually really interesting)

I had to connect my external drive, as my memory for titles is not that solid. So, here's few more documentaries (see post 37) that I find deffinitely worth watching:

Darwin's Nightmare (2004)
Beats of Freedom (2009) - polish rock music defiance in 80'
Waste Land (2010)
Rabbit à la Berlin (2009)
Bowling For Columbine (2002)
Suspect Nation (2006)
Skinhead Attitude (2003)
Vincent (1987)
End of the Rainbow (2007)
When You’re Strange (2009)
Baraka (1992)
serie: Koyaanisqatsi (1982), Powaqqatsi (1988), Naqoyqatsi (2002)

And thank you all guys for recommendations - I've noted many titles, will check that as I haven't seen any documentary for a quite time. Nice tread btw.

Cannarelief - quite the list to check out.

Another that comes to mind is The War Game about what would happen in Great Britain after a small scale nuclear attack. If that's small I'd hate to see what big would be like! Done in 1965 and more of a docudrama really but still good stuff.

Nimbin Heads - "nimbin heads is a snapshot of locals & tourists about the nimbin experience, Nimbin situated in northern nsw australia is internationally famous as a unique place on this planet shot between 8.30 in the morning and 8.30 at night this one hour doco provides a real insight into why this town puches above it's weight in the collective conciousness on this planet"

We're Just Doing Our Jobs - "Hippies, cops & cannabis in Nimbin, Australia and the bad side-effects of the current pot laws. Is the war on drugs just another bad marketing exercise by the US government or an excuse for decades worth of lifestyle harrassment? Find out what happens when they give video cameras to hippys. Video activism at its most gonzo!"

First Contact - Original footage of the 'first contact' between Papuan highlanders and Australian gold prospectors in the 1930's, together with reflections from surviving participants on their swift introduction to Western colonialism. Ripped from the DVD "Indigenous Resistance in New Guinea".

TV Junkie - The trailer for the Sundance Film Festival winning documentary "TV Junkie" shows former INSIDE EDITION senior reporter Rick Kirkham on his rise to international fame and then decline into addiction. Kirkham's candid video diaries make up this entire shocking film which has been seen by millions worldwide.

John's Not Mad - Filmed as a QED documentary by the BBC, John's Not Mad made a huge impact on the nation and brought the relatively unknown condition of Tourette Syndrome into the public domain. The documentary follows John Davidson, a 15 year old schoolboy from Galashiels who suffers from the most severe form of this complex neurological disorder.

enjoy :tiphat:
