Sealed Room Window A/C In Room

Could someone please explain either in words, pictures or a combo of the two how you would go about using a window A/C not installed in a window in a sealed room setup while also not having odor problems.

The way i'm picturing it in my head right now the A/C exhaust could vent in to my light coolings exhaust after the lights right before it goes through the carbon filter and out in to the atmosphere? If this is correct how do you go about putting an exhaust on a window a/c unit and also would the exhaust temps be too hot at that point for activated charcoal and cause it to burn (even slowly)?

Thanks for the help guys

uhh...you have to put the condenser coil outside, otherwise you are going to be heating up the same room you are trying to cool...and it will heat the room up hotter than if you had no AC in the first place...

I am confused about what you mean by "exaust" ...is it the cool air passes over the evaporator coil?, or the hot air radiated from the condenser (the back of the AC unit that is supposed to be outside?

But anyway, like I said, if you went to the store and bought a window AC unit and put it in a sealed room and turned it on, the place would actually get HOTTER!

you need to block the vent or buy a window unit that has the option...it will say vent open or closed...close the vent and your good...in other words it recirculates the same air...peace

...yea, I have no idea what you talking about.. :friends:
You might get more help if this were in the Growroom designs & equipment section though
Good luck!

I was also thinking of putting a window ac in a grow room. I have not done it before so I am not sure about odor leaking out and I was wondering what to do about it too. I'm thinking of putting an ozone generator on top of the ac unit. That way the ozone gets circulated around the room and helps to neutralize odor when it exhausts out the window. I have no experiance with this so it is just a theory I have. Anyone think this would work?

you can do it just follow that post, make sure that box/extraction is good enough to vent the exhaust though. first one i made would start blowing warm air after about 20min because the enclosure was too small.

I understand. You want to send the air that comes out the back of the A/C through the same scrubber that your lights are being scrubbed. No need. The A/C should have an option of closing the vent that allows you to recycle the room air. This is the most efficeint way to run the A/C

I have an A/C and I dont think it leaks any smell.

If you are set on scrubbing it, you can follow the DIY. I was thinking of using ductboard to build a duct that to channel the heat from the back of my AC away towards the garage door and vent it outside. Never did though. One thing to remember is the rear of the A/C needs air moving over it.

y can't i find it
? someone please link to the thread "diy ac box" or somethin along the lines. it was part of the diy linkorama for years. weerird i can't find it through search. hopefully it's kust me. the guy was a hvac pro.

i just finished doing what u are talking about a month ago seal your room on the wall cut a hole big enough for the ac and frame it out with 2 by 4s i used 4by4 because it was a 25kbtu unit
overkill i know make sure just the front two grills intake and cold air exhaust are in room and all of the grills on side and back of unit are not in ur gr
