using well water on this grow at new place just wanted to hear some feedback on other experiences with well water on soil grows. any info or suggestions would b useful. thx u guys!

It would be best if you had it analyzed by a soft water outfit like Culligan, or any good plumbing outfit. They'll give you a breakdown of what is the water mineral wise, and PPMs for each major "contaminate".
If the water is really shitty, and I know some that are bad here in my area, you would probably be best off installing an RO.
Tap water here in my apartment runs 50-100PPM and most is from Calcium. I use it as it comes from the tap, bubbled if possible. I keep 5 gallons bubbling 24/7 most of the time.

i have a RO but micro nutes are a pain its kinda hard to have a sulfer toxicity, but high levels of cal. mag. might screw with my nitrogen. dont get me wrong i love the RO but i would like to use the free stuff too. maybe a mix? i do wanna take it and get it tested though. thx for the input. anyone else have experiences with well water???????? feedback would b appreciated!!!!!!!

thx for the post buddy. i was sorta wondering if anyone could hit on the head if it got stagnent quicker because i hold regular well water phd with no nutes in a 30 gallon drum with lid. and nute water in a 50-60 with lid. is there any amount of time fellow well water users feel it should be used in and does the rust from rusty pipes effect plants???

Several decades of well water experience here.
Stagnant quicker ? Not ordinarily, it's already a few billion years old, but it depends on what's in the water to begin with. Most well water is fine, occasionally some needs treatment, but not as many as all the softener and RO systems might lead you to believe. The Culligan man is a great salesman, after he tests your water you will think you're a goner if you don't rush out and buy what he's selling. If you do have serious contaminants, you will have to treat it somehow. Maybe buy a water test from an independent lab for $20 or $30 to get an unbiased look at what you have, the results should have an explanation of what's what.
Galvanized pipe goes rusty sooner or later. Hardware stores carry Iron Out, sometimes it works.
Talk to your neighbors about their water, see what they have to say.
Good untreated well water is a lot healthier than the sludge metropolitan systems have to pump to their users, but the key word is... Good.

Pro-Mix does a nice easy to read lab service on your water for $30.

Had 2 well water tests done locally & the reading are so hard to understand you will be even more confused.

Just stick with pure R/O.
Learn how to use it with your nutes effectively and you'll never have to change anything... no matter what the tap water is at your new location.
