What's new

ventilation

Trying to work out all my details before I start my build. I've never done a "micro-grow" before, there's alot more too it then just having a grow room!!

Anyway, I'll be building out of a dresser. I don't have dimensions yet since i'm still looking for the right dresser but it will be the average size dresser. I plan on having 3 chambers, veg, flower, and a "utility room". It will be one continuous ventilation going from the veg room, to the flower room, to the utility room and out from there. I'll have light traps at each location. I have some old computer fans laying around. they are 25cfm. If i put a fan pushing into the veg room, then one pulling out of their and pushing into the flower room, then one pulling from there, through a cool tube and pushing into the utility room, and finally one pulling out of there to the outside. Would this have adequate ventilation? I don't want to buy a fan if I can help it. I've already decided to upgrade so much on this that i'm gonna be hard pressed to get the wife to agree I need to buy a fan too.

I think the deciding factor with computer fans is not so much their flow rate but lack of ability to cope with static pressure. This is important if you want to use a carbon filter. There are some DIY filter designs for PC fans but I am not sure how effective they are.

What lights are you planning on using? This will play a factor on ventilation.

25 cfm fans might be good if you are using LED night lights.
For a Dr Bud style dresser, 100 cfm would be a minimum, depending on your choice in lights.

you'll be better off, with the size of a dresser and the complexity of your air system, with a duct fan IMO. much better static pressure capabilities.
