In a perfect world we would all be able to let our plants air dry for ten days and then go through the open- close curing method for a month and then leave it closed for another month before consumption What I do if I HAVE to smoke something as quick as I can I will cut it down, hang it in the dark with a fan blowing almost directly on it for about 48 to 72 hours and then smoke the heck out of it. If you flushed your plants properly and were not using chemmy nutes...it'll smoke! On another note, bravo for trying something new and different.

Thanks, S. But I only used organics in the home stretch (last 6 weeks of flowering) so chemmy taste shouldn't have been an issue.

I'm a bit of a kook when it comes to nutes. When I prepare the medium (sterile coir) I expand it with pure water that has bat guano, seaweed extract, and MiracleGrow Soil Acidifer in it already. This goes until I get to the fourth week when I give it another blast of Soil Acidifier, then one final blast at the end of the third week of flowering. In flowering, I give it seaweed extract and Monty's Joy Juice. Man, that Joy Juice produced some pretty fat assed buds - or was it the combination of everything workin in harmony? I doubt the latter being how we dehydrated the plants twice (once in veg and once in flower) resulting in 75% of the foliage dropping to the wayside in week 9 of flowering. I think this accounted for at least 10% of the total yield going down the tube. I also had to harvest early, so I think I may have left another 10% on the table - maybe more if I hadn't burned them up and overloaded them on the lighting. That equates to almost a 1/4 pound of bud weight lost.

Water cure

Water cure

Yes I read abouot this in an old book by Mel Frank. He suggest it for making leaf more potent and smoother smoke. I tried with leaf and flower many years ago and like it. Mel did say to be gentle with the material when water curing. Maby this halp to stop resin fallin off material. He says it removes sugar and starchs from material which make smoke ruff. smoke from burnin sugar is also cancerous. So water cure if done gently and good could also make smoke safer for us and no just smoother.

I like this thred very much. very intresting

 :D

I wonder what would happen if you did a water cure with an additive (like a flavoring) would create?

I think they should sticky this.

I've read about it in several threads now. I thought okay if an opportunity comes along I will try it. Well it came and I used this method on an embarrassing plant I hardly wanted to admit was mine.

WOW!!! Everyone should try this on a small sample to see if they like it. Nothing about this method other than quickness had impressed me until I took a puff and got higher than I had been in months. Not that I didn't finish the sample I took but I sure as heck didn't need to.

I changed the jar with tap everyday for 7 days. Switched to distilled water for 3 additional days. Dried for 5 hours before taking a tester smoke through a smaller sized bubbler. It looks horrible. I has little scent. Taste is smooth but lacking. High unexpectedly strong. I am trying this again on a normal plant that I will also "air cure" with mason jars and a Caliber III to give me a comparison. (as well as the ability to mix them both together for my personal pleasure)

Also of note was the fact that the buds floated at the top of the jar until days 7-10 where they individually started seperating some on top and some on bottom. Any water curing gurus out there have any information on this. I'm taking it as a sign of which buds are "done".

There is a couple of threads on this already, Freezer Boy has been doing this apparently for years. It sounded good to me so I tried it and was happy with the finished product, even bought a small Nesco dehydrator off [$50] of Amazon to hurry the process of drying. It takes all the harshness out of the smoke, very, very smooth and stronger seemingly. You lose about 15% of the weight but gain in power of effect. I use a vaporizer and really prefer this way of curing for myself but also cure some in a jar with the Caliber 3 humidity gauge for a couple of months then put it under vacuum. I only do the water aspect for 6 to 7 days and my water is very good so don't use distilled. From a health stand point the water cure really cleans your product, gets rid of dirt, bugs, sugars and chlorophyl which makes you hack. When you first do this you'll be surprised at the crap that comes out, smells very bad and you can see how dirty it was when you pour off the water. I smoke this in a vaporizer with a carbon filter on the line, very clean and no coughing, for taste if you want it add a little of the air dried or a pinch of some pipe tobacco and that will do it. Potency seems enhanced.
