Help with orchids

Hi folks,

i've been gifted a couple of beautiful orchids.
I've tried to give em lots of light and little water as my other indoor plants. In the last few days they started to drop flowers though, after some yellowing a at the flower's base.
I'm pretty new to them and i need some advice to keep 'em in good shape. They are in a soiless substrate so i think i need to push some ferts, also i dont know if i've been too light with waterings.

Every advice really welcome

Peace

Orchid flowers only last for a certain amount of time, depending on a number of factors. Temperature, humidity, light cycle & nutrition can all change flower retention. Some species of orchids simply flower for only brief periods of time as well.

Pictures would help identify what you're growing and give a good idea as to where to go from here. You may be doing everything right already.

There you go Geo:

you get a rough idea of the variety and the substrate, dont mind the decorative stuff.

Thanks in advance

Looks like a moth orchid of one sort or another. Gorgeous plants, fairly easy to grow. Been a few decades since I've regularly played with them though. They're relatively trouble free orchids.

First off, glass box doesn't allow much in the way of air circulation. Orchid roots really need a lot of air. That alone may cause some early blossom drop. Second bit is the floral display bits behind them. Chances are if these are from a florist they've been exposed to some really NASTY temp/humidity swings before they got to your door. If you have the entire spike drop all the blooms in the next few days don't panic about it. Moth orchids are REALLY aggressive bloomers, once she's happy it'll be the unusual day where she doesn't have a bloom forming, in peak, or finishing. Substrate itself looks just fine.

You can change pots at any point, unlike many species they'll take a lot of root abuse w/o having to wait for dormancy. I would wait till your existing blooms finish as doing decent amounts of root damage is a sure fire way to drop the remaining blooms.

I've used several complete hydroponic fertilizers before at 1/4 or less recommended strength applied 1-2x a week as a spray across the roots. I know I've heard various recommendations on "exactly" the right fertilizer mix to use but moth orchids are pretty easy. Like I said though, been a while since I've grown them, I'm sure some things have changed and I may have been doing some things wrong.

Thanks for the tips bro, very appreciated!
I'll go with some light fert (i do mostly organic) for now and i'll transplant to a better pot as you recommended.

Keep it green
