Edgey's mini 48 plant verticle sog (sort of)

here's how the story starts

the sun was out and as usual the mrs gets thinking about the garden and making the hot tub room look tidy for the summer so on yet another trip to b&q ( i should have shares in that place ) she spots some new kind of hanging baskets..............................

once we get home and i'm sat in the garden chillin with a glass of wine and planting her new chilli's and tomato's in the new hanging baskets she pipes up with " i'm suprised you've not come up with any daft idea's about using them for your plants "

obviously that got my brain ticking over and with some help from a good friend with some spare cuts ( Thank You ) i came up with a plan lol !!


i've got a spare ds80 tent a spare lowbay 250w hps so the plan is to hang 4 of the polanters ( hanging baskets ) , 1 on each wall of the tent , use a bare 250 bulb hung from the centre and flower the 48 clones as soon as they root ...

the clones will be c99 , psychocindy , nightmare kush and killer queen.

i'm not sure how many of each yet and i don't think i'm even going to bother labelling them so if i pull it off or not it should be an interesting grow either way

when you water those bro you need to run a small tube up the center with holes in it, otherwise you will get hardly any water in the top and boggy at the bottom, pukka thread bro im in. safe

I've never seen those before now their a pretty cool idea, it would be cool if you could add nutes with the water somehow lol you could set up a recirc system with it .

they have a built in feed pipe , just attatch the end to ur pump and your away lol

i'm thinking of attatching a funnel with hose to the bottom of each one and draining the run off back into the res , i'll see how it goes once there up first though

Very cool idea edgey, ive been wanting to do a vert grow for a while with. I v had the same idea as you before when i saw those strawberry planters you can get that are very similar, only problem i had with them is that the plants at the back arent gonna get hardly any light when they are surrounded around a single bulb...you get me? How are you gonna get sufficient light to the plants at the back?
What medium are you gonna use? Im defo gonna check these things out, im thinking run to waste with a pump...Peace

these don't have holes at the back just 4 on the front and 4 on either side.

i'm using coco and run to waste ( for now ) with a pump on each one but i may try recirculating it once i see how it runs

Also are you going to hang it from the tent frame? Just be careful it can take the weight when loaded with nutrient solution..Good luck, keep us posted...Peace

i think they hold around 10L each , they come with drainage holes in the base but i think i'll add the clay pebbles like u said just to be sure.

i'm hoping to hook them up to a pump and attach a funnel and hose to the base to allow drainage into a seperate res otherwise i'll be watering in the bath tub again lol then she won't be happy !!

Looks great man, hope it works well, gotta get some nice bud outta each cut, if only half a q or so its still 6oz off a 250hps which aint bad surely. And may work even better than you think. Good luck.

How much do they run you from B and Q? What is the height of them?

Do you think you could get away with using soil as a medium but bumping up the number of polanters? to compensate? Ie in a 120 x 120 could you get 2 per side?

£10 each m8 and i've already checked size for next time , yes u can easily fit 2 on each wall of a 120 tent , good ting is they look like they can be attatched to each other too , one on top of another so in theory you could have 4 per wall in a 120......

I reckon you could do eight of those easy in a 120 tent, one to each face and one to each corner obviously positioning them evenly around the light..

Sweet, I have never gone vertical with a H.I.D but I have a spare 400w and it's very tempting

I'd be using AF's though probably, so would have to start about 170 off!

Was it the 50-odd cm one at £10, as it looks like they do a 90cm + larger versions too

Fresh idea mate. Very interested to see how this one goes.....everyone seems to be going vert these days! I've seen some great results from bare bulb verts, so I hope you pull off a blinder. Tagged.
