maybe someone can make me not to unhappy. i had to help my sister move today at the last minute and got in at about 230 am. my problem is i was just about to go to bed and i went to check on the lil fellers (like i do normally 10x a day) but as i was out all today they we only checked when i woke up. when i woke up i gave them a nice water.but as you's would know from earlyr on i currently have them under a 400 watt light. and well when i just checked on them they are basically bone dry! now that it just the top and side the inside could have some mositure not really sure... i nicely opened 1 skunk and the seed had nothing new not even cracked open.... i opened one ladyburn and there was a lil root coming out of the seed. i didnt look dryed up or anything i also looked at one of the ams and it also looked like it wasnt dried up.... has anything like this ever happened to anyone? did they survive? im so scared.. not really just upset my wife didnt check on them
thanks in advance for any help!

don't feel bad its happened to many of us at some time..

It may be alot easier to wait until they are at least dixie cup size before going to the 400

one main consideration is how close your 400 is and if is ac or not...

I had very bad luck last year at the time with peat pucks...I think they were Jiffys.
The pH or something is them was a foul, as I cast about 35 seeds of quality genetics that didn't pop. Most would start out of the hull and stop dead. No further attempt at living.

I have sworn off pucks for a bit, and it was probably an anomaly since I haven't seen any similar reports of late. Although many don't pop lots of seeds at once and they may not tie a failure into the pucks themselves. I am convinced it was the pucks in that instance, since I took the very same genetics and popped them all again in prepared coco with 100% success. Most up within 72 hours.

Jiffy pellets are good, but they dry out very easily. 400w is pretty bright for little seedlings even after they emerge. Before hand, it's a killer. Seeds germinate best in the total dark and high humidity, like in a damp paper towel in a sealed ziploc baggie. Then transfer to the Jiffy pellets when the roots are about an inch long. Soft fluorescent light will make little seedlings grow faster than a bright HID.

the 400 was just there for heat. i was going to pull it when they poped or when i can aford a heating mat for under

so seeing as how it has happened to you's before, with the root that is coming out of the seed not looking like its dried up, would you say there is still a chance on them growing?
they were probabaly only dried up for like 3 hours if that because i watered them around 1pm then checked on them around 3:30 am (3:30am is when i noticed they were dried up)

i have a t5 and 3 150 cfl's i have done all my clones and seeds off them and never had any problems the hid i just for heat right now as my grow area is cold.... i pulled the light up to about 3 1/2 4 feet so its not directing its heat right on them but yet the room to heat them up nicely im going to go out and buy a heating mat in like an hour and then will be switching back to my t5 and cfls.

I've been using Jiffies for both germination and cloning for years.

Always in one of their mini-greenhouses like these for the first week.

They don't need light, they're seeds!

As far as warmth goes, I find cooler temps (around 65°) might take an extra day or two for germ but after years of completely un-scientific testing, my female ratio is pretty damn high.

About 80%.

im going from seed but i will switch everything over when i get to canadiantire to get the heat pad... i also had rigged up my humidity done so that my humidifier pumps right into it... well im waiting for them to pop should they be in 100% humidity ???

yeah i know they dont need light... but iv heard that they root better and are stronger overall when they are germinated in warm weather... all the seeds are fam so i dont think ill get a male...

Maybe try a heating pad underneath. I use my satellite box. Fems have gotten me females that shoot nanners. In the future I will just roll the dice old school style. GL

YES they may survive. I did the same thing a few times and they usually pull through depending on how long they are dry for

Yeah dude, toss those girls under a CFL, give them water, and hope. They should be alright. And if not, well, killing plants is the quickest way to learn. You don't make those mistakes twice, haha.

I'd hazard a bet that at least 80% of the growing community has killed a seedling doing some boneheaded shit. I know I have. ;)
