First Grow(Day 9 Flower)

This is my first grow, small, one plant (Femmed Blue Mystic), 103 watt CFLs, mixed spectrum. Soiless mix, in veg mostly water with light 12-12-12 local store brand nutrients. In flowering, a bloom fert 10-30-10 (although it might be 15-30-15)

Earlier shots of the plant have been posted in various spots in the New Growers forum, but thought I'd start regularly documenting the flowering stage.

Went to 12/12 9 days ago. It put out thicker pistils on day 2. Heres some shots of various branches and bud sites.

I'm shooting for 5 day updates, will include feeding info etc I think.

I don't believe this is your first grow, seems you got it all under control bro! Best of luck to you, though it doesn't seem you need it!

It vegged for 5-6 weeks. I had a seedling going originally but a friend broke my box, and killed it.

Another friend (we decided to start together, same seeds and soil etc, had to move so I took over his 1-2 week old seedling after mine died. LSTd it horizontally.

It's gone pretty well. Just been keeping it simple. Feeding it sparingly to avoid nutrient problems which seems to be a bane for new growers.

Hey quick question, my lower bud sites are stretching out alot. They look like small branches topped by a small bud. Is that normal? All of my other flowers up top are forming right at the node.

Also should I just trim off the fan leaves and lower bud sites? They are far behind my top several nodes on each branch as far as flower growth, and will this help the plant focus on plumping up the remaining buds?

Well here's an update. Day 14 (maybe 15, too lazy to check the date)

Got some nice stacking going on, and thus putting a little size on.

I've been fooling around with maximizing my light distribution, and stumbled across a way to maximize my CLFs. I use an unlevel canopy. Two shorter branches(a.) under the Y split lights, and 3 taller branches(b.) in front, catching the crossing light from the side of the CFLs. Ran a light meter around it and I have gotten much more light hitting more parts of the plant. I also have a single 40 watter on the other side of the plant, to make sure all sides get equal light.

I even drew a very crappy Paint picture in case I didn't explain well. In the top view, the a. branches would be directly under the lights.

And here's some updated pics, including some Fisheye stuff I goofed around with.

The last one is the most accurate to the plants real life colour. Kinda of a grey/green/blue.

See ya soon!

She's in a super ghetto box. You can see it roughly in the background of the first and last pics.

Its, 2Ft 7in wide, 2ft 1in tall, and 1ft 6in deep. With a total of 120 Watts of CFL love, 2 PC fans (1 for intake, 1 for exhaust) a small desk cage fan to keep things moving, and a clean dish soap bottle full of yeast, sugar, and water.

I had been using air fresheners as odor control, but have switched to a bowl full of baking soda, and Glades new strong odours gel cone. yeah, glade. Its made for food, pet, and other strong odours. The surprising thing is, it actually works. It sucks up smell, and now my room also smells delightful, and it cost me a buck 50.

Thanks man! After initially making the switch to 12/12 I couldn't stop checking for those first few hairs, and when I saw them, they were tiny, and could only be seen at certain angles of light, and I am thinking "oh here we go, its gonna be some super runt". Then all of a sudden she just went off. I am pretty excited, wasn't expecting to pull down anything massive (CFLS), but it is encouraging to see how well its come along.

I'd love to take all the credit, with my expert growing skills haha, but really this first grow has gone so smoothly due to the fact that I lurked ICMAG for months, and just read everything I could. I'd be a blind man with no lantern if it weren't for this place.

The two close ups were also taken with the Fish eye, it helps my little camera focus in close. It definitely can throw you off, a friend takes alot of skateboard shots with one, and for some reason if there are cars in the photo, I get motion sickness, especially if the car is shot while moving. Blur sickness.

Update coming tomorrow. Was trying to take some picks today, and I was bending a branch back slightly, and lost grip of it. It hit the lens, not all that hard, but now my lens is jammed, and won't shoot. Some leaf tip must have gotten stuck, although it'd have to be tiny. New cam tomorrow.

Starting to put on a bit more size, some good trich action going on aswell. Getting pretty stoked, hopefully all continues on smoothly and I can pop my harvest cherry with a decent smoke.

Too bad about the camera (for your loss but also I want to see how she's doing). On the bright side she must be a strong lady to be able to destroy your camera like that.

So this is day 24 or 25 now, new cam and heres some pics.

She's putting on more weight, and frost. Although, my new camera is taking some time to get used to, so I hopefully captured it. Not much else to report on. Here's the shots.

My largest branch, after being tied towards the middle for head room.

Tried to get some of the frost to show up in pic.

In the background you can see my MG plant food, not for this plant for my lavender, worry not.

Will update again in a week, if it continues with no major happenings. Weird side note, my buds mid branch, are far more crystally than the tops, whats up with that.
Thanks for stopping by.

Great effort for a first grow Moots, she's looking great. It was definitely a good move to lurk here for a while and absorb all the great knowledge and experience around here.

One of the toughest parts of a person's first few grows is trying to be patient. I just started my 3rd grow flowering (today is day 1 in fact), and I can't wait till it's finished.

There's no better feeling than lighting up for the first time with something you grew yourself. Stay the course you're going and you'll get there in spades.

Do those air fresheners actually work for you?

Patience. . a lot easier when you have plenty to smoke, not so much when it will be your first smoke in over 5 years.

HAHA, I forgot about those things. I was using them early on, they were cheap and worked for a few days. Forgot to remove em.

I eventually moved to a glade gel cone, its right beside those trees just out of frame. Made for strong odours, pet smells, and cooking smells. Here's a link. It works well, lasts about 2 weeks. If you have a low smell strain like myself one of these cones is more than sufficient.

Just like this ^ one. Except the strong odours scent.
