Everyday I am in a world of torture

I posted this in another subforum, but I do this because I feel that it is better to get more answers from people in both sub-forums who may not see this if it was just posted in one sub-forum. I am a 26 yr old male who has been in severe pain for a while. My chest has been inflamed. I've had major surgery on my sternum and ribcage when I was 16 and i smoke pot almost daily(though I know use a vaporizer and cut back on my usage and smoking CANNOT be the only reason).
Now the problem is I've been to MANY different doctors trying to get relief and find a cure but it seems they don't hold my best interests at heart or care much about the pain that I am constantly in. At first I was given some anti-inflammations that made my stomach bleed, I went to another doctor who seemed as if he didn't even care and prescribed the exact same thing after I told him it didnt help.I have been tested from head to toe, many chest x-rays, many different doctors, everything, yet the doctors act as if they don't have an ounce of compassion.
My quality of life is way down, I cannot remember the last time I enjoyed life it's so bad. I've had to drop out of several of my college classes because of my inability to focus because of the intense pain. I haven't been able to support myself or work. I cannot function, im suffering and I need something to alleviate the symptoms and cure the problem.
I'm looking for a cure rather than just something to mask the symptoms but i need some relief. The doctors just don't seem to care. I want to fix the root of the issue, so the pain stops.
I should further mention that I have been to countless doctors so many times and they have ran all sorts of test and cannot find out what's wrong. I've tried many different medicines that were suppose to cure the problem but never did. I am at my wits end right now and am in so much pain every minute of my life is living hell.

I was in a car accident many years ago was told my sternum was cracked there wasn't anything they could do for it and at the time it didn't really bother me, but 6 months later it hurt like the dickens for over two years.
So keep looking and maybe you will find the right doctor,

Sorry to hear about your sternum.

The thing is I've looked everywhere been to every doctor and they won't help me with pain medicines and I cant get prescribed weed because I don't live in a medical friendly state.

Hi,

I am not in the medical profession and i feel of somewhat of an outsider to the difficult issue you are facing during your travels through your life, however you have asked for help/opinions and i would like to put my thoughts forward.

Reading your story reminded me of something i saw on TV a few years ago. Before i go on i'd like to point out that issues such as this are quite serious and should be treated as such.

The article i saw on TV involved a previously healthy woman who had gone bush walking when she was younger. During the bush walk she broke her leg/ankle. Whilst the leg/ankle healed from memory i believe she had some sort of malfunction with her nerves where accident was and her brain causing her to be in pain 24/7. Apparently there is no cure for what she has (i cannot for the life of me remember the name of the condition, i i will look it up) and she is in pain all of her life from that day forth.

If this is a similar situation you could try going to a psycologist or even better a Psychiatrist as they can prescribe medicine (at least in my country).

Regardless i feel that if you go to a psycologist/psychiatrist and set up a case for the pain you are in this will put you on firmer ground to mount your case for pain medicine to your doctor as you can get your psycologist/psychiatrist to refer your records to your doctor.

I understand that you are in a tight situation finacially and this may be an unpractical approach, however i feel as if it may yeild better results than approaching various doctors for pain killers. No offence but their warnings signs may trigger when they see a jobless 26 year old asking for pain medication. If you have some sort of backing to give them from a psycologist/psychiatrist it may help your case.

I wish you the best and my heart goes out to you!

DISCLAIMER! i am not in the medical profession and this is an opinion only and should be treated as such.

Drugcheese so sorry to hear of your recent issues, are we to assume all these are happening after this in November?
Any of you stoners do Yoga? With the ridiculous race schedule I have coming up this fall (3 marathons) I am thinking I will start a Yoga routine at a new studio in town to stay flexible and help with recovery. I'm mostly motivated by the fact that a girl I know gave me a free pass to her friends studio. They are both gorgeous, so I figure at the very least I get to go get all gay in front of them a couple times a week.

Man, how unfortunate, what a rapid change downhill buddy. I have sternum/clavicvle arthritis and severe pain in that area, any type of running will irratate the hell out of mine. Even walking can flare mine up. Are you still doing marathons?

Mage has some good advice for you I think, especially because of the "warning signs" this narcotics triggers in doctors. They don't usually prescribe narcotics if you are seeing another doctor for them. Some states won't even allow it.

Doctors often communicate with each other in trying to help you though. I have three spinal surgeons along with several others pros that are treating me. They don't always agree with each other but having specialists from different fields is a plus I think. Be well my freind, DD

It's not really similar to her situation. But it's an interesting concept, nonetheless.
I have no money to see a psychiatrist or psychologist. And I have seen both in the past when i did have the money. Essentially what happened when I went to see them is they didn't want to talk about my pain and possible solutions. I'd go in and it's like they would try to get me out as quick as possible. I would be in there for maybe 10 minutes max and all they would do is ask me a load of silly questions that had nothing to do with my pain and talk about all the new drugs on the market they could sell to get commission. And throw all sorts of medicine at me without even discussing the pain or trying to find a root cause for it. . You know the kind of people who wouldn't help you if you were starving on street outside the clinic. sad, really.
I hardly ever go to the doc anymore because of this. The last thing I want to do is go around wasting my time and hard earned money trying to fish for painkillers which are 99.9% of the time pharmaceuticals that don't even help. For me personally, weed helps more than any narcotic painkiller I have ever tried.
I also know from personal experience that those types of drugs, while they may help temporarily they make the pain worse in the long run.

In any case, I can't understand why their warning signs would trigger a bad response. Why should a jobless man who has a legitimate medical condition have any bearing on the treatment he receives? Why would they look down on that is beyond me. I just can't see how economic status correlates with the type of medical treatment one receives.

No this life destroying curse has been going on for 10 years straight. It has no affect on my mobility, sure when I run I fall down in chest pains and my lips turn blue. I've seen a heart specialist and 60% of my blood in my heart is pumping the wrong direction.

I'm sorry to hear about your arthritis. I have it in my hands I can't imagine having it in your sternum. I no longer do marathons...it's just something I did to help out the cancer society.

The last thing I want is to get back on narcotics. They just don't do anything at all for my pain unless it's something ridiculously strong such as Heroin or fentanyl...and I don't want to go back down that route.
From my research if you take them for long periods of time and then you stop it can take years for your opiate receptors to ever be the same again.
I am limited as to what doctors I can see.. I only have one GP I can see in my area. And I have no car, job or money to see him. And I dont have money to afford an ambulance. It's a sad state of affairs.

That's exactly what I've been wanting to do is grow strong Afghanis. It's been my lifelong dream. I don't necessarily need an elaborate setup. Just something small like a small PC grow with some CFLs. I just don't know how to go bout doing it. There's a plethora information on this site I just have no direction or the funds to make it happen. All I know is outdoors and that's out of the picture.

I never ask for anything because I don't do pharms anymore. They don't help me at all... I was prescribed roxicontin and norco 10s and they don't do anything for me. The only thing that has ever helped is ganja.

if you want to grow a small personal stash you need to do some reading in the micro grows journals. you can see from there that you dont need much money to start with just some cfl lights, couple of small fans and a small cab. dont bother with pc grow unless your hooked on the idea but it is too small to be practical. just a small cab will be good. do some reading and get hold of some good genetics and your laughing. pharmaceuticals suck especially when they come from a doctor that sees you as nothing but an inconvenience on his time. well good luck. if you have any q's i'd be glad to help

Drugcheese I'm very sorry to hear that you are in so much pain. I know perhaps better than anyone what you're going through. I'm only 20 years old but have had severe wide-spread chronic nerve pain for a year and a half. My hands, arms, necks, and some times legs hurt. As well as my feet and knees on occasion. The pain for me simply isn't bearable anymore without opiates and cannabis.

Fortunately I have an opioid prescription, and enough cannabis growing to last me through next year hopefully. (Once I can harvest!) Unfortunately, my pain is undiagnosed, and it will never go away.

I can't really offer much advice, because everyone with chronic pain lives with a different situation. But I would suggest that if the pain lasts longer than 2 years then you really will want some sort of narcotic, because long-term CP can really bring a persons mental state down after a while.

Hope the doctors can find out what's wrong and help to fix it, keep using your cannabis and try to stay optimistic!
