I vote for Oregon, lots and lots of beautiful land and nice weather. The Portland area has some of the nicest bike and walking trails I have ever seen.

Yep - like Forest Park.

The largest park in the US within a city - over 25 sq. miles adjacent to the Columbia River.

I'd say Colorado, but...Winter nine months out of the year (oh wait, that's Canada)

Nor-Cal and Oregon are my two picks, the most like Colorado.
Cost of living in So-Cal is ridiculous.

Here's another vote for Maui. Everybody says the medical care is horrible, but the state just built us a spiffy new hospital.

Card are easy to get, you must establish residency, There are no dispensaries, you must grow your own. And the pot is second to none.

We have two seasons, wet and dry.

It's rough...but somebody has to do it.

Hi TerryT: Is there anyway you can check out Colorado? I am thinking of the smaller towns just west of Denver in the foothills. The CO cost of living is higher than your area, but there are lots of good hospitals and doctors scattered around. You get the 4 seasons but nothing too outrageous in summer or winter. It is a medical state and the government and law are not too repressive. If you can stay away from Denver itself you miss the crowds, traffic and gangbanger action.

Yep. Maui would be the spot to retire, If you can handle great pot, great people, great weather, The blackest nights you have ever seen, etc etc etc. Does not get any better.

Accompanying the wet season, the windy season. But its really a pick your climate kinda island depending on where you locate. The high can be 85 at sea level but the more you climb Haleakala the cooler it gets. Whatever kind of climate you want, you can find on Maui.

Its an awful place it really is, Torturous really. You should stay away :tiphat:

Have you hiked Silver Falls' trails much? That's a great park!

Sorry I missed this. Yes I have hiked it a couple of times and it is beautiful. I really dig the areas with all the moss hanging off of everything.

Found a pic I took last time I was there.

The best place i know is Colorado... now 420 friendly like California...to grow, or use.....

I would check out Denver and Colorado Springs.. many huge grow warehouse's being set up around Denver.....cost of living is reasonable as compared to anywhere in California which is impossible..... low midwest costs... not as low as the south but beats both coasts because i have been on both...

Good Luck in your search FML

I strongly suggestion the Portland Oregon/Vancouver Washington area. The climate is really nice, it doesn't get terribly hot or terribly cold. I lived in the area for 10+ years and never experienced extreme cold/heat like I did in other parts of the United States. It's one of the most beautiful places to live and much more affordable than California (most areas).

The people are friendly, and just about everyone I knew out there was very pro-MM and quite a few people use MM out in that area. Check it out and visit and you will find out for yourself my friend.s

I have been looking at the Chico area. Cost seems reasonable. College town so it should not be boring. Half the town looks like park area. And mountains and lakes nearby. Any input by people would be appreciated. Thanks

Weezard, Which island do you live on?

I just got back from Maui and had a great time. The weather was great for my wife's MS and it was much less crowded and more scenic than Oahu. We are seriously considering retiring in Maui. Cost of living and the quality of medical care will certainly be considerations. I know Hawaii has MM but no dispensaries. Looks like a lengthy process to get a card.

Hawaii is pretty progressive with Medical Cannabis. Dispensaries are in the works and plant numbers are rising. There are tons of 60s and 70s refugees in Maui. But most places that are truly affordable are not near hospitals and rescue is slow.
Take a look at Kauai. three quarters of the island is only accessable by foot or horse. And it is very laid back.

Budget=everything. Gotta get details or else any degree of specificity is impossible, and we're just randomly spouting off cool places.

Nowhere beats San Diego for my money, but I wouldn't live there unless I was bringing home 80K+.

Central Coast of Oregon is beautiful, cheap, and med-friendly, but not a lot of work if you still need that.

The guy who started this post was asking about relocating b/c his wife had MS.
So, if that's the case, or if anyone retiring has any kind of arthritis or body pain, then moving to anywhere except for SoCali would be really dumb.
All of the places mentioned are definitely beautiful and pleasant, and SoCali can be expensive depending on where you live.... but.... it's dry in SoCali and that makes a huge difference to anyone with body aches & pain. I could never live where it's damp and chilly anyt time of the year. I could never survive in a place like Florida, or Oregon or Washington or Hawaii or Humboldt County, or even around the Bay area b/c they are all so overcast & damp & humid. They also see many more storms and the low pressure that storms brings (or that helps bring the storms) are hellish on body aches & pains.

There are many more places one can consider in SoCali other than expensive areas around the big cities like San Diego & LA.

I live in Palm Springs CA> It has a perfect climate if you can enjoy four month's of 90 degree heat in the summer. Very low humidity except if the monsoons don't blow over from Arizona which happen once or twice a year in the summer. It is a MMJ friendly area and you can grow up to six plants for yourself and your wife. I feel it is like a garden of eden after living and growing up in Buffalo NY.
