yes add more water to bring it down, now remember that you have added PH- and PH+ this raises the ppm or EC.

Proper care ,storage, calibration and over all cleanliness will prolong the life of your probe/sensor, And the have a short shelf life and a probe should be replaced every 6 months if its used daily.

GrowDoc

Hey Doc,
Is it OK to mix PH up & Down in the same solution? Ive always thought this is bad & causes Precipitation of some sort, i remember doing it years ago & the sol went cloudy straight away. IIRC the makers of +- recommend against adding the 2 together, but i can remember why, any info/feedback on that issue Doc! Thanks bro!
(Edit)

Hey Bluecoup, you said earlier your tap was 7.1 iirc. then you said you started (premix) with water at 6.5 before adding in your nutes, which took you down to 5.3. Your not adjusting your tap water with PH down, before adding your nutes are you?

Liquid Silicon is an exellent additive with many benefits. But its really good when used as PH up! just follow mixing instructions exactly if you use it. Its good stuff. its very compatible with soil/soiless/hydro solutions.
(Liquid Silicon raises EC also but its a good PH adjuster, you dont need much of it)

The second mainly occurs in smaller plants that are in bigger containers. Many grower will put a smaller plant in a container to big for the root system and then give them a big dose of water. In a few days the top of the soil is dry so they give it more water. Well what they do not realize is that there is a ball of mud in the center of the planter and the roots are suffocating.

Sorry to interrupt, but I had to comment on how true this statement is :wallbash::wallbash::wallbash:

Curious how this plays out, the latest pics look pretty good & I wouldn't sweat much. I had multiple problems throughout many stages of my grow, overfed, overwatered, underwatered, transplant stress, light stress, root bound, and a few other things that might not have caused problems but won't do again (Feeding dry soil, Slacking on PH, watering with cold water). I had some of these problems individually, and some all at once. But pretty much every one of my issues caused the EXACT same looking necrosis as you showed in your first pics.

My only advice is to back off the nutes, that was one of my biggest problems. If you look around on here you will start to find some growers getting AMAZING results feeding next to nothing, I've seen guys on here running 500-700ppm MAX in hydro with shit going killer good- blowin' shit out the water better then 90% of the grows on here type good.

Could it be a build up of chlorine? Tap water can cause these types of problems if not using a two-step filtering system. Also super-charging your water would be good. If your not doing so already.

I think scrogerman has some great points. How come 7.1-6.5?

Are you mixing the nutes in the correct order?
Do your nutes have buffers that take a few hours to kick in?
Did you get the 7 solution and are you confident in the meter?

As far as ppm, I have never owned a ppm meter. I would just give them as much as they can handle. If the tips get burnt back off a little. Right now is the time you want to hit they with as much as they can take.

This is how I mix my nutes. This may help a little. If you have the room I would suggest getting a tote, airstone/blower thingy and pump. All together about 20-30 dollars and you should be able to get it all at walmart but you may have to go to a pet store too. Pour the amount of water you need and mix your nutes in the right order. Let it bubble for 24 hours then take your readings and adjust. Wait a little take another reading then use the pump to drain into gallon jugs. You might have to add a little water back after 24 hours bubbling because of evaporation.

I use gh nutes and they have buffers in them that take about 24 hours to fully kick in. After 24 hours my ph would usually go up .3-.5. I dont know about your nutes.

The only other thing I would suggest is to learn your water while your meter is working properly. My meter died 3 months after I bought it but I learned that if I mix my tap and ro water at 50/50 it gets me right where I need it and I do not have to use ph up or down but I have really hard water with a starting ph of 7.5. There is something weird about your water(compared to mine) and your going to have to learn it. Tap water usually has some buffers in it from the chemicals they put in it so I am surprised yours drops so much from your nutes. For example if I mixed full strength nutes to my tap water it would probably only drop the ph to 6.5-6.8.

Overall , your plants are doing great and just need some minor tweaks. You are in soil it should not be to difficult.

does tap water ph drop if it sits for a bit ? maybe thats why my meter read 6,5 and 7.1 ,i did noticed the ph of the batch of nutes i mixed up has dropped in ph by about 1.0 so far

as i keep rolling withthe punches i noticed a plant or two that is closest to my oscilating fan(pretty much right beside it so the fan blows over top of it) has spider mites ,azamax them tomorrow

Wow, spider mites this grow keeps getting better. Always be careful bringing stuff in from the outside. I believe ph will change as its sits for a while but I think it has more to do with temp. A .6 change sounds a little high but I don't know. You may want to go to the hydro section and read a sticky about water chemistry. Its not the easiest read but it may help you understand things a bit.
