Ask Joey Beltran what leg kicks can do.

That fight with him and Pat 'HD' Barry and those sick ass leg kicks... That shit hurt me through the TV.
yeppppp

best was when Sergei tried his luck in K1 against Daniel Ghita, had to be carried out on stretcher after suffering the most brutal leg kicks i've ever seen

never underestimate a well-timed low kick

Lmao @ comparing Diaz to Ali.....
Diaz plays aaa ball in the aaa league.
Ali was a true great one.
When Diaz steps up to the majors and dominates then we can make that comparison.
Had Ali only fought GG fighters the comparison would be more apt.
It's morelike an early RJJ fighting people like derrick gainer, yeah he won butthe fight should have been against whitiker.

Diaz is top 5 in the world at 170lbs

and #1 in terms of fighting intensity

also he fights more than any other top-ranked guy.

oh, and he finished daley, something Koscheck couldn't do.

silly comparisons..

Gil Melendez is an animal and he's the guy in Strikeforce that the guys in the UFC should be worried about. If there's anyone on the Strikeforce roster that could immediately contend for and win a UFC title it's got to be Melendez for sure. He completely steamrolled Kawajiri! And his shutout of Aoki in his last fight was impressive too. I'd favour him over Frankie Edgar if they were to fight today.

Speaking of Aoki - very impressive win. Neck cranks are brutal. All I know is that if Shinya every got to my neck I'd tap as fast as possible. The dude has been breaking limbs. Nobody can match his submission wizardry at lightweight - he's amazing to watch. I do have to say that Beerbohm's strategy for the whole minute and a half the fight lasted was amongst the worst I've ever seen though. Why would he try to clinch with him???

And Nick Diaz is a champion in the truest sense of the word. Man that guys ability to take punishment is unbelievable. You can basically knock this guy out and he'll catch his senses and recharge in an instant then keep bringing the heat. He basically fell flat on his face two times in that fight and yet somehow came back to finish Daley who's never been stopped in 40 fights. How could anyone not like watching this guy? I wouldn't go as far as to say he could beat GSP but I know GSP couldn't finish him.

I don't know where anyone would get the idea of Daley just being some amateur gym boxer though. Daley has the sort of power that is unbelievable. If Daley hits you flush with a left hook, no matter who you are, you're going to bed or dropping very quickly. By no means is he an elite technical boxer (but how many people are in MMA?), but his standup and durable chin make him a threat to anyone on the feet. He could beat anyone on any night strictly because he can put anyone to sleep with one shot. Not many people have the same knockout ability as this guy, at any weight. It's truly a gift and very rare for anyone to literally be able to put any man to sleep like he can. His defensive wrestling isn't as bad as what people make it out to be either. He did make Jake Shields work hard for a takedown. Again, I'm dumbfounded at how Nick can absorb punishment like he does.

Lastly, Mousasi got robbed. He won the last two rounds quite clearly I thought and I just can't buy that Jardine won the first round. At best it was a draw, take away the point from Mousasi and Jardine gets the first round 10-9. He still loses that fight. Too bad for Mousasi. Jardine took Mousasi down five times in the first round, spent two minutes getting the takedowns then managed to keep it down for a total of probably 20 seconds. Mousasi busted up Jardine with strikes for half the round..

Anyone catch the Ben Askren fight (Bellator) that same night against Nick Thompson?

Next weekends Bellator looks alright too with featherweight champ Joe Warren returning and bantamweight champ Zack Makovsky too.

I dont know bro, as much respect I have for Gilbert, I have watched Frankie Edgar get his ass handed to him and still end up outclassing his opp. This would be a stellar match though

Daley was very underrated, to bad he did not last longer. But Diaz is nuts, I cant believe he falls on his face out and still kicks a guy as fast as Daley

Ive always thought that Diaz had a bright future when I saw him competing in the UFC originally. I still think to this day his battle with Karo is one of my all time favs.

If you dont like the ground game and think its 'boring' watch that fight.

Looks like #2 ranked featherweight Hatsu Hioki will be fighting for Shooto in a couple days against unranked Donald Sanchez. This is the guy that the UFC needs to get in to fight Jose Aldo for the title but I have no idea where negotiations stand between them. I can't really see how Hioki will lose this fight so hopefully the UFC can bag him soon. Also top-5 flyweight Yuki Shojo has a fight on the card too. (Come on UFC - it's on your plate to incorporate a flyweight division so why not just do it now and be done with it?)

For anyone who enjoys Japanese MMA, this Shooto card is definitely the nicest card of the year thus far and really the only one that I'd go as far as to say is a must see for fans of worldwide MMA.

UFC 129 Quick Picks

St. Pierre over Shields - decision
Aldo over Hominick - (t)ko
Machida over Couture - (t)ko
Henderson over Bocek - submission
Ellenberger over Pierson - (t)ko

I can't wait for tonights show - it's bananas in Toronto right now. Biggest card of the year - going to be very hard to top.

Best case scenerio is Shields win submission and then we wait for rematch! As the Spyder waits for a nontitle catch wieght fight with winner of the rematch!!!!!

The BEST part about this card is for the first time they will broadcast ALL of the fights :) :) :)

The first several will be on Facebook - Go and like the UFCs page and you can catch the stream there.
THEN we will see a couple of the prelims on Spike TV (as we have become accustomed to)
After that, its off to the PPV for the remainder of the main card.

WIN WIN WIN!!! I have my laptop hooked up to my TV for the stream :D

Going to be exciting!
I just can't pick against GSP. No holes in his game at all. Just a true and complete martial artist.
But if anyone has a chance, it's Jake Shields.
We know we are going to get a great fight in this one.
I would love to be able to put some money on GSP.
On the other hand, it's sad to see Randy Couture still fighting at age 47, even though I think he can be competitive against Machida. He has nothing left to prove. I think he should bow out gracefully, and not go out on his back. Many fighters stay on too long, and it's the damage they take in their last fights that ends up damaging them permanently for the rest of their lives. Witness Muhammud Ali. The man can barely speak, due to brain damage from accumulative blows mainly suffered in his last few fights, when he took way too much punishment from fighters who would not even have been competitive with him in his earlier years.

Holy shit, I dont know if any of you are following this on Facebook, but ALL of these prelims are SICK SICK SICK!!!

Fight 1 - Pablo Garza wins via FLYING triangle.
Fight 2 - John Madesski wins with a spinning backfist KO.
Fight 3 - Jason Macdonald wins by triangle (in the first minutes of the first round)
Fight 4 - Ivan Menjivar breaks Charlie Valencias nose with a well placed elbow in the first. (And finishes)

Now its on to the next undercard fight. Wow, the bar has been set :D
