We need to get this thread rocking.

Ok, so I just flipped my girls. Vegged them under an LED panel & the panel is so good at keeping them short that I think I'll leave it up for at least the first week of stretch. Then I'm going to stick the 6-hunny in. BUT ... I'm concerned about the temps. I'm running in a 3x3 tent. Can anyone help me with the venting requirements to pull this off. the tent is in a room w/ central ac, so expect 72-75 ambient. I have a 6" 400 cfm fan & I'd like to run just the one fan w/ a 6" PhreshFilter in a single circuit scrubber>600w cooltube>fan> exit. Anyone have any experience enough to say if this will work. I also have a 4" fan if it came down to it, that I could add to the mix - maybe dedicate it to the cooltube.

Would really appreciate the help my bros!

I see many setups here were people are pulling air instead of pushing it thru the aircooled hoods. Wont that mess up the fan?

No the fans only reacts to heat and dust its drag in the ducting is a factor but pulling works better imo as it sucks off hot air rather than force cooler air in. Also the added pressure from pushingmcould find leakage in the hood not all bad as only "clean" air would go into the room rather than "sucking" out bad air, no? So there are pros and cons; butif you pull make certain the hood is sealed with either aluminum tape or silicon and test it with incense! peace Bad...

In one of Rosenthal's books he says that 600's are more efficient watt for watt than 1k's. Anybody with experience with both that can vouch for that? If true, why do people rock 1k's for big grows? Just ballast/light cost?

600w produces more light for used electricity than 1k watter in other words it produces more lumens per watt. I think 600w has the best efficiancy from 250, 400, 600 and 1000.

People uses 1000watt lamps because they obviousilly make more light than 600w lamp. I prefer 600w because theyre more efficient and i can keep them closer than 1000w. I have 3x600w rather than 2x1000w and i get more even distributed light. 600w FTW!

Thanks for confirming that. But with any grow, whether stolen power, paid power, legal/research, legal/medical, whatever, total power use is a concern.

If you've got a big op, why would you rock 1000's when you could go with more 600's and get a more efficient result? This is what I don't understand.

Some folks have their lights fixed to the ceilings and a 1k would have more penetration. The lights cost almost the same so many folks who used the "watts per square foot" figured it was more practical. they were wrong, lol. this is a much debated subject and both lights do fine grows all parameters being maximised. I did a stadium with both and 6's were ez-ier to work with. Its all personal preference though.

actualy I grow with a 400 hps but added 2 4 ft t5's with 2 tubes each mixture of grow and bloom bulbs. this is the first grow using them but I'm picking up a 600 hps system from HTG Supply. I grow in DWC 18 Gallon Rubber Maid Containers. I use G.H. nutes with a few addatives Diamond Nectar Botanicare AquaShield D.M Silica and A.N Bud Candy. best grow so far is the latest which netted 350 Grams
