This shit is going on and getting worse.
In this "Operation Green Thumb" almost 3000 people was already raided after they purchased seeds from some italian web shops (now shutted down).
There is some coverage in local newspapers for a massive op on 23 March.
Media are tryin to make evidence of the great results of this operation but they're laughable. In the best case some people was caught with few grams of herb and some plants. Most raids ended with a 'negative' result but the people involved is forever labeled as criminal in the family and the neighborhood and is forced to spend money for lawyers.
Mind that no one of the raided people was found linked with the criminality.
We all hope this senseless crusade against small growers is gonna end.

Spread the bad news and fight against bad media information

Peace

guys write from Italy, the situation is worse than you might think. now the arrests also arrive to purchase seeds from abroad we find through payments with credit cards. not only to monitor the sites Italians therefore Italian children for no reason not to buy on the web are at war and that we make a misstep for me inside. These are news these days. I for my part I presented for the moment only smoke in the home and buy only small quantities, there have been arrests for 1 gram and thousands of licences withdrawn. who governs us is removing all freedom of thinking, we're just animals to produce money do not have the right to choose what's right for us. We just work and do what we suggest gold otherwise are trouble.

it's no secret that the countries with the most corrupt governments have the harshest drug wars. Italy, the US, Russia, France. I know in my state here in the US the mafia and government are the same entity.

You know the mafia in Italy is going to pay big bucks to the that sleazeball Berlusconi and anyone else to keep cannabis illegal.

remember it was Italy that forced Switzerland to call off legalization several years back.

This particular project in Italy sounds like Operation Green Merchant in the USA from 1989 to the early 90's. It actually caused a backlash that caused many states to back off enforcement of their marijuana laws.

Keep up the fight my Italian friends, it is really sad to hear this kind of stuff happening. We are all with you here on IC!

Like W.Less Monk said, same in France, it's getting harsher and harsher. I think they are pushed to their limit and trying to do whatever they can before it s too late and Weed is legal all over Europe. IT WILL BE !

Fuck repression, this will never work. Legalize it, yeah !

...governs us is removing all freedom of thinking, we're just animals to produce money do not have the right to choose what's right for us...

It's like everybody is plugged into the matrix. Working hard for some large unfeeling machine which reacts violently if you try to free yourself.

The matrix is like "why smoke weed when you can just sell your soul and take zoloft, etc. like you're supposed too, that way you don't have to worry about the giant machine you're plugged into coming down on you."

In name of all the growers contributing and supporting us, we would, first, thank Gipsy to provide a free space where we can communicate and share our own experiences. It could be appear a banal thing but, in cases like ours, it could make the difference.
So, thank you Gipsy and thank to all ICMaggers :)

In Italy, nowadays, if someone is caught with marijuana, for personal use, bought from any place and any little dealer, that person will meet ''only'' administrative penalties, ranging from driving license or passport retirement to the obligation to attend SERT (Italian drug services) program. This mean periodical session with qualified personnel (psychologist) and urine analysis for several months.

If the same marijuana, instead of being bought from the street, feeding this way the drug market linked to criminal organizations, is grown in own house, there is the concrete risk of being immediately arrested and than be judged, also with only one plant in vegetative phase. The law say the punishment goes from 6 to 20 years of imprisonment!!!

Is this one of the numerous absurdity in the FINI-GIOVANARDI law (D.P.R. n. 309/1990) .
This law did re-introduce equalization between hard and soft drugs too.

Marijuana is one of the less toxic substance found in our whole world, as many of you already know, it doesn't carry dependence neither is known one case of severe poisoning, despite the disinformation made year after year from On.Giovanardi himself and his crew, which is undersecretary with delegation to drugs policy in Italy.

To fight against the terrible Italian situation and find new solutions, for a more tolerant law on the personal cultivation of cannabis, a new national association called ASCIA (Association to raise awareness on cannabis self-produced in Italy) is recently born. In April 3rd, the first national meeting has taken place in Bologna, hosting public talks about medical value of cannabis and the current Italian situation from a well known lawyer's point of view.

The target we're seeking is the revision of the FINI-GIOVANARDI law, which for its fundamentalist, discriminatory and excessively repressive character, every year causes thousands of needless arrests and the devastation of thousands of families in their own everyday life, using in vain economic resources and law enforcement, flooding Italian Courts and prisons, with the only target to repress, most of the times, a criminality which in fact does not exist.

We believe that until the law will not being modified and applied a regulatory to domestic cultivation, many other victim will fall, because of the common sense lack in the indifference of the Italian politic world along with criminal organization's full satisfaction, which holds the absurd privilege of the monopoly on all the illegal substances consumed everyday in Italy.

The organization recently born ''ASCIA'' (means ax in Italian) want to obtain a regulatory on domestic cultivation, because, regardless of the use (therapeutic, ludic, spiritual or whatever), this law persecute the grower and the consumer indiscriminately, damaging, by our point of view, the most elementary rules on privacy and individual freedom, violating the most obvious constitutional rules too.

We would ask moreover, to those who have the possibility, time and energy to spend, to share this words in the web or whatever. We need of the greater support possible by all of you, every help will be welcome. With the power of many people we will can assert our rights.
We invite all of you to join ASCIA organization to help us on www.legalizziamolacanapa.org

You can find more infos and propose new actions on the following thread (italian language): https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=209306

All constructive inputs are welcome in both italian or english. We kindly ask mods to understand the aim of the thread and be tolerant on the links posted inside.

Thanks to all for reading and keep the grass green :)

as many of you already know, it doesn't carry dependence

well i think it does create dependency

most european smokers smoke joints with tobacco

so they get addicted to joints

They dont realize this and think it is the MJ that has them addicted while in reality they are addicted to tobacco

i have been there

about Italy

yeah one of the most beautiful countries in the world , prefect growing weather but a really retarded backwards mentality

i would love to return to Italy some day , but only if they stop living in the middle ages with their draconian laws , but vino is no problem!!
