any growers in here use a dehumidifier??

got a few questions if you can answer them please?

what size Dehumidifier do you use?
what size room is it in?
what was your humidity before you had one lights off?
what is your humidity now you have one lights off?

any additional information greatly appreciated...

thanks for the reply Phillthy :D

65 pints is 37 Litres give or take... my rooms slightly wider but not as high, also my rooms not sealed... im thinking of putting one on each side behind my stadium.... my lights off humidity is 90% at the moment...

been looking all day lots to choose from.... decisions decisions....

Instead of getting two, get one real good one.

Sante Fe dehueys have excellent reputations.

It's less about the size of the room, and more about how mant plants will be resperating insinde. I went from 4k in flower to 6k in flower, and my 75 pint dehumidifier failed to keep up any more. I'm planning on buying a Sante Fe 100.

cant get sante fe over here and if i only get one then one side will be more humid than the other...

unless its some monster that sucks the life out of the room.... if you was to put one say on the right side of the room it has got to get threw a wall of bud and wet coco and then threw another wall of bud then wet coco to dry that side out....

honestly 2 is going to be better than one in this situation.... im also limited with room on where i can have it... my room is so tight i can barely move in there and behind/under the stadium where i water is the only place it could go.... ideally in the middle of the room or at least at one end would be better....

im actually considering 4 x 12 litres / 21 pints units... one on each corner of the room stadium what do you think???

money is a bit tight got about £400 budget for this, this time round next round if these dont cut it then i will upgrade.....

Here is a thread about going with a larger pint model because they are more efficient. The byproduct of the dehumidifying process is heat. The more efficient the model the less heat you are going to build up.

a 25 pint a day uses 415W's: That is 16.1W's per pint
a 50 pint a day uses 610W's: That is 12.2W's per pint
a 70 pint a day uses 765W's: That is 10.9W's per pint

That Watts per pint doesn't completely convey the lower electricity use of the bigger models. Using less Watts per pint means you are generating a lot less heat for the same amount of water reduction.

Best to get one of the biggest dehumidifiers you can find, and then it only has to run occasionally... The smaller ones will have to run constantly. Multiple small ones might do the job, but would probably be more costly than one large one.

Personally I'm using a DrizAir200 plugged into an AIR-2.

We just use a Sears 35 pint de-huey hooked up to a controller unit. I have it set and it keeps the humidity at 50-60%. I will turn it down as we move deeper into the flowering stage, but themore I think about what DHF (and others) have said I think I want to get a BIGGER de-huey and run it less often while producing less heat.

Interesting thread...

Cannabunker hit the nail on the head in that it`s more about the number or "size"of the plants transpiring and sweatin out juice into the room once they`re dialed , eatin/suckin juice , and shittin it out.....and....

Since yas got 144 "smaller" plants coverin major sq/cu ftg Bro , you`ve got major shit ta deal with once swellage begins in the next 10-14 days till end of cycle when twice a day feeds are in order ta make the girls AND you happy come harvey.....

As Bobble so wisely said , better to have more than yas need where it won`t spin the power meter , run 24/7 , and burn out before it`s time.....but...

I totally understand the budget thingy Bro , so all yas can do is "attempt" to fight the beast lights off with more extraction/air exchange and possibly the 4 smaller units till yas can upgrade next run.......

Whatever yas come up with , make sure the guts are out of titanium so all the overflow tubes can be run back to a catch basin so yas can reuse the R/O water created from suckin juice outta the air.....Do NOT use clear tubing as algae will form and contaminate the runoff.......

Heat expelled from each unit will haveta be dealt with as well , so maybe 2 bigger units underneath with more airflow to distribute the process......

Good luck my buddy.....it`s the little things....Pullin fer yas over here.....

Peace...DHF.....:ying:.....

If the room is small... and the budget... you could try:

~ get a few ceramic electric heaters & pump em continuously... forcing your normal a/c to cycle more, removing a lot more water. Also, the temps might go a bit higher (say lower to mid 80's) and the rh will go down a few points. Or the plants will transpire more...? Depends on the room & girls.

~ still get the heaters for night, esp the first few hours after the lights go out, and get some inline fans & ducting.... if the outside RH is low(er), then just pump the air exchange... get a big 8".

Both those routes would be 'cheaper' til the next investment round... and maybe even effective enough...?

And then the votes go for a Phoenix LGC or the Dual Max HT... both rock.

Think it was covered but just want to re-iterate the fact that plants in flower seem to put off 2X as much humidity as when in veg. My point is, whatever size you think you need go bigger cause there is nothing that sucks more than getting pm in a sealed room because you under estimated, and if you don't go big enough it will run all the time and throw off heat which causes the air to hold more moisture. Just my two cents. Speaking from experience.

btw , think some of you all take the rep thing a little too serious.
