Scissors - Cheap or Plush?

I hear ceramic keeps an edge pretty well. Stainless lasts a long time, so long as one doesn't cut the wrong thing.:)

Scissor handles dog thumb and forefinger. Spring loaded flat handles dog the arm. Where's the trim pro?

i prefer zenport over fiskar brand. zenport makes a pair that have curved tips that allow ya to get in a bit tigher without cuttin a nug accidentally but u def want sumthin spring loaded if ya got a decent amt of nug to trim up.

Depends on how much you gotta trim but cheap ones work great I have some automatic scissors that help a lot
but the cheap school ones work fine
sharper ones for small leaves

I'm a big fan of 4" surgical scissors (or 4" fly tying scissors).

forking out? $10 isnt exactly forking out ... LOL

When I said forking out I meant relatively, as in €2 vs €20. See? It may not be alot of money but it is to some.

One pair, a cup of alcohol to rinse them frquently, and off you guy. A backup pair is handy when you blow the tranny in it (The spring tends to break after a while)

Lucky for me blowing trannies is not in my interests! Thanks though :)

thanks all, looks like I will be forking out for a pair of Fiskars

something like ... http://www.amazon.co.uk/Fiskars-209921-Touch-Micro-Scissors/dp/B00007M9MM/ref=pd_sim_diy_1
Was my first pair. Price was cheap and the microtip works awesome for nipping fan stems in dense places without taking the budsite by accident.

The only "problem" is the slide lock sometimes locks itself while in use.
Broke it off no more problems.
a pair that have curved tips
I had a hydrofarm version with curved tips for the second set and love them for the finally sweetleafing.

I use my "Microtips" for fans and "curvies" for the speedround. Life got much better when I upgraded to these two spring action models from the ol' fashion hand powered crampmasters.

For trimming growing plants and taking clones, I find myself passing over the Fiskars and using a pair of long thin barber's scissors. They let me reach in amongst the foliage and snip those stems and leaves in tight places without nipping a bud by mistake.

Fiskar Garden Multi-Snip

Garden+Multi+Snip.jpg

2 3/8 inch blades. They are basically two knives mounted as spring loaded scissors. They are actually pretty dangerous, not for the accident prone, the blades cut on all four edges. Warning do not run with! $15-20, ive got 4 pair.

The wide blades hold more scissor hash (less scraping breaks). Ive cut 5/8" thick stems with them.

This thread should be stickied, i wouldnt trim some bud without spring loaded scissors.

its spring... find the tiny gardening section at your local dollar store and there u will find the cheap version of fiskars. $1 spring loaded pruners. i have 1 pair of those and two pair of fiskars

I used my daughters Crayola scissors for a year before I found the Fiskars

I have 7 of the Fiskars Microedge, the longer kind that's currently discontinued. Love those things and wish I could buy more. Picked up a Fiskars scissor sharpener, as well. Now, after every trim, I wash out the scissors, sharpen them and pray they never die.

I remember the first time I trimmed; my first outdoor grow - ~3lbs dry. By noon, the joint on my thumb right where the "normal" scissors sat was beginning to look raw. Good times.

I used "whatever I could find" for several harvests and then I requested some fiskars for a christmas present. I am much more confident snipping closely to the bud using the micro-tips.
