Just finished trimming a harvest. Deep inside the bottom of some of the colas was a little moldwhere buds were going into buds. Humidity wa 45 all through flower and through hang dry. The colas are sper massive. What can be done to prevent this in the future?

Having the same problem myself. The best couple ideas I've heard of (besides lowering RH) is Greencure foliar sprays, maybe coupled with some peroxide thrown in. Other than that, pull big tops apart so air gets in there, or do a 2 stage harvest so you can pull all the big tops early and let the rest ripen a bit more. I've lost a pound of my last crop to mold and am PISSED, but at least I can make alcohol hash out of it. I just tripled my dehuey capacity and humidity is still way too high. Time to get serious!

I stopped growing colas larger than four inches in diameter, except sativas. So I grow 3-6 oz plants instead of 8-10 oz, and I don't have to throw much away.

more air circulation helps.
i know what you guys are saying about the bigger buds, i dont have a solution myself except keep a keen eye out for the protruding leafs to start to take that odd colour yellow/brown or go listless, indicative ime theres mould starting to grow inside the cola n its on the leaf stem killing it.
keep pulling the nugs apart from each other to allow air/light in (i grab the leaf tipsto do it)

if i get it its in the last week to two weeks 12/12 it always seems to appear first on parts which dont get direct light and poor air circulation. (inside the dense colas)

id cut the off bit out

i ended u doing what the other guy said, smaller plants. n the problem disappeared.6-8oz a plant was good for me to last time i did a tree (over a kg)and the mould returned..

the strain you choose also makes a difference as to its resistance to mould

i battle bud rot all the time......

i have found several ways to really knock it down or all together get rid of it....

use silica in your nutrient.....

and water less at the end of flowering. i water to the point of they will be slightly wilting when i water the next day. if you notice where it rots, its very moist, wet sometimes....

A sulfur vape during early flower also helps. I try to run mine for the first 4 weeks and not any longer than 15-20 minutes cause if you over do it with this stuff it looks like yellowish snow coating your buds (not good!), learn from my mistake. I hang mine right below the fan to help disperse it.

Krunchbubble has it right too, water less and silica will help.

Good luck, peace

Throw away? (color me noob) but wouldnt a watercure take care of this issue? Sure it would leave you flavorless buds, but they would be smokeable.

a watercure will not get rid of the mold. IF anything, it will just promote the mold to grow more after you take it on out.

I just tossed a qp prolly another tomatrow. I try to get smaller colas by intensive pruning but this strain just seems to rot bad. I shouldn't have scrogged them. Looks like it's contained to inside a few main colas. Most the side branching is ok.

This blows goats. I use silica and have excellent circ. I will deffinately warred less at the and and I'm looking into greenxure foilier. Tossing this strain and dropping humidity to 30 last 2 weeks.
