First outdoor Auto grow - a couple of questions

Hi guys, I am looking to do my first ever grow. I am planning to grow a Auto Ak (fem) and a MAXI gOm (fem) from seed outdoors in secluded part of bush land.

From what I read here I should start them off indoors under light. At this stage I have no equipment and am looking to keep it simple till I have this first grow under my belt. Would a couple of desktop lamps for example be enough to get these auto's big enough to transplant outdoors? Any minimum amount I should look for? Also I gather about two weeks old is enough to give them before taking them outside?

I'm in Australia and the days are getting shorter. Sunrise about 6am and sunset about 6pm but not too cold yet.

I'm in the same situation. I want to find a way to start my seeds outside but if that can't work I'll be convertin the closet into a veg room. You probably don't need much more than a CFL bulb of two, the bigger the better.

if you are gonna veg them with such poor light you might just aswell be better off started them outdoors, climate question?

a couple of cfls with blue spectrum will do..depending on how many ur gonna veg,, you can get them really cheap

I was under the impression it's best to start them indoors as they are very susceptible to bugs etc early on?

CFLs are cheap enough I just don't want to over kill. So for two plants just for the veg for 2 or 3 weeks would two 20W (125W equivalent) be enough? Or should I for two 250W equivalents?

Is the weather going to be ok in about 12 weeks from now where you are? What is the weather like now and what is it likely to be come harvest?

When dealing with CFLs you always talk the actual power and not the equivalent if it were incandescent. I think if you just want to start them off indoors and send them out as soon as they germinate you could always stick them on a window sill. 2No. 20W CFLs will be fine I would have thought so long as you keep them very close (within inches) of the pots. I would stick them out as soon as possible after they have popped to avoid stretching.

Don't take my word for it though; haven't done it in a long while. I just stuck an auto outside in the UK about a week ago. I had it inside to start in a cab with some CFLs for the 4 days it took to appear above the surface. After a day I put it in the mini greenhouse outside and it has been there for about 10 days now perfectly happy.

2 weeks would give them a couple of nodes and will be before they sexually mature. They may seem small but I think with autos you don't want to be transplanting them too late on.

We have had a tonne of rain on the east coast of Australia lately but it's Autumn now and still a good 11 - 12 hours sunlight. It'll be mid winter by harvest but our winters are relatively mild.

I'll be growing in a very coastal region. I went there the other day early in the morning and there were spider webs EVERYWHERE! Literally walking into them non stop. Wondering if this alone is gonna be a problem? Also tonnes of mosquitoes and various other tiny flying bugs that seemed to be swarming in patches. Haha this will be an adventure.
