I've read many posts of people have good success by using small amounts of bleach in their hydro systems to kill all bacteria, both good and bad.

I'm just curious what the maximum safe level is from people who have personal experience and success with using bleach.

1 ml (20 drops) per 10 gallon rez. Use regular Clorox, the one for domestic use.

Fungus Gnats also seem to hate the bleach, as well as other critters that feed on roots.

Thank you x100000.

Really only 1ml/10g?! That's so little. Are you sure that's enough to kill algae, slimes, pythium etc?

The idea is to keep water concentration to 1-2 ppm... I was also surprised as to the small amount needed.

Used in those concentrations is harmless to plants in all stages of growth. If you grow in warm (+80F) environments, this practice will save you a lot of root rot and pests.

I have ran up to 2ml per gallon with no I'll effects. 1ml should do the trick.

You can also just add a gallon of fresh tap water with the chlorine still in it, it is already diluted and safe. Works to keep away the nasties.

i'll be trying out this method as well. recently i've switched over from ro water to straight from the tap and not letting the water sit. and also have been using 1tsp per gallon of maxibloom and nothing else and boy oh boy have my plants been looking great!
