DENVER – Eight-year-old Aidan Elliott had thrown a TV and chairs at his Colorado elementary school and was trying to use a cart to bust through a door to an office where teachers and other students fled for safety.

No one could calm the boy, not even the staff in a program for children with behavior problems like him. So they called police, who had intervened with Aidan twice before.

Police found him with a foot-long piece of wood trim with a knife-like point in one hand and a cardboard box in the other.

"Come get me, f-----," he said.

When they couldn't calm him down, one squirted Aidan with pepper spray. He blocked it with the cardboard box.

A second squirt hit the youngster in the side of the head, and down he went, according to an account of the Feb. 22 standoff in a police report first obtained by KUSA-TV.

Aidan and his mother went on national talk shows on Wednesday to say using pepper spray on an unruly 8-year-old was too much.

Police and officials at Glennon Heights Elementary in Lakewood, Colo., say it could've been worse.

"Had the officers chosen to be hands-on with him, the potential for him getting some type of injury and, maybe even officers, would have been much higher," police spokesman Steve Davis said.

"It was the best choice made," he said.

Aidan started acting up while on the bus to school, the police report said. He began screaming and then continued after breakfast while throwing chairs at his teachers.

"He was being very aggressive, very violent," said Melissa Reeves, the school district spokeswoman.

There were eight students with Aidan in the classroom, Reeves said, and teachers removed them after he became violent. They barricaded themselves in an office, as he tried to bust in, Davis said.

Aidan was swearing and shouting expletives at his teachers and threatening them, Davis said. He taunted police when they arrived.

"I wanted to make something sharp, like if they came out, `cause I was so mad at them," the boy said on NBC's "Today" show. "I was going to try to whack them with it."

After hitting him with the second squirt, officers took Aidan outside for some fresh air to help dissipate the spray. Paramedics were treating his red, irritated face with cool water when his mother arrived.

According to the report, Mandy Elliott asked her son what he did.

When he told her he had been hit with pepper spray, she is quoted as saying, "Well, you probably deserved it."

It wasn't the first time officers had been called to pacify Aidan, Davis said. They'd been able to talk him down in two other incidents.

On Wednesday, Mandy Elliott said she wished authorities had chosen to talk him down. She also wanted police to get special training in dealing with children. Aidan has since transferred to another school.

When asked about the pepper spray and what he did, Aidan said: "I kind of deserved it."

I knew there was a reason I never had kids.......

They should of pepper sprayed, then beat his little bad ass.

Now the mom says the pepper spray was "too much"
Control your kid then.

I love that fat, bloated whale-carcass (who think she's a woman?) parading her little trans fat-laden tub of joy around with no sense of shame.

That walrus thinks other people should raise her kids so long as she provides his big ass with some high fructose corn syrup every once and a while.

UGH. I hate that society is such that she can waddle around on national television pretending Tubby McTubster is a victim.

They said on Good Morning America that he wanted to ''kill them'' with the piece of wood...I'd be in favor of a taser also.

Maybe if they sprayed the little butthead everytime he got pissed, he'd learn to have some self control. Seems to me he may have deserved that and a good ass whoopin. Bet there ain't no Daddy in the home.

damn police need to invest in those sweet net guns that shoot out and catch someone...I think pepper spray was a little excessive for an 8 year old with a pointy stick....I mean the kid seems pretty unbalanced...you probably could have talked him into trading the pointy stick for a pizza or a shiny object or something. I completely understand that police are completely incompetent in dealing with sharp pointy objects without using their guns and tasers, but come on...

on another note do you think if you ran into this crazy kid on the street you'd get away with pepper spraying him? even if he had a real knife I'd see myself sittin in jail.

did someone say fat? likely some chemical imbalance from eating all the garbage they put into processed food anymore.
and as far as not having a father figure, well...i think i may have bailed on the little fucker and his enabling mother, or spent some time inside for beating the crap outta him! either way, i'm not about to be embarrassed on national tv for his behaviour.
and i'll wager he watches all the damned tv he wants, when mom isn't watching americas next top model, or some super chef show shit. tv is evil.

cops in denver shoot 12 year old mentally retarded kids and get their job back (100% true by the way.... kids name was paul childs, i think) they probably could have talked him down if he did not get away with shit like this all the time .... hard to threaten an 8 year old with an ass whippin' if he really has never had one. the cops would have never been called in my day ...... when i was in second grade the principal beat the ever living shit out of me with a frat paddle for running in the hallway, in lakewood colorado. times change i suppose. the parent said he deserved to be pepper sprayed, but if the teacher had grabbed him by the neck and told the little shit to sit the fuck down and shut the fuck up they would be looking for a job .... no winning for anyone in this situation IMHO and that kid is going to be a real piece of work in 10 years if nothing changes.

you little guys made this kid seem like 200 pounds... went to search for the video and he's just a chubby kid...

he obviously doesn't get much attention and his mom stuffs him in front of the tv to keep him occupied. He coulda also seen some violent things and a lot of yelling/arguing when he was younger and possibility his mom was abused and/or himself.

he said 'i think its just who i am' when asked why he was angry. "i don't think it will ever go away'

pretty interesting bit there..
