Symphilids...advice would be nice

I just checked my plant and it wasnt looking too good. It is just bagseed so it is not a big deal but i saw a symphilid. I read about them and found that they like soil with animal manure and of course my soil has a lot of animal manure in it. In a few weeks i will be starting a grow with aurora indica and i do not want to have to deal with them again. Should i change soils or buy the spray to kill them. Thanks

I highly doubt you have symphylans.
Yea your right i dont have symphylans... I have symphilids.I don't know why you would bother doubting me when you don't have the slightest clue whats in my soil. I saw one crawling on top of the soil. Thanks for that intelligent response....

I saw one earlier in the winter, and I did my naughty little secret to it - tobacco tea
How did you make this? Did you just soak a pack of cigarettes in water and watered the plants? My friend dips tobacco, do you think i could mix one of his spitters in water and water it?
Thanks for actually helping me instead of doubting that i have them

last time I used organic tobacco, but I gotta be honest - red man works best.

maybe an fpe from organic tobacco would work. lol get your buddies to spit in a bottle, add water and molasses, and see what happens.

not sure why this is less organic than lavender?

btw I don't advocate regular use of tobacco.

it's my "emergency bug zapper because that seed cost 10$"

I would believe this person saw what he/she saw. They are not so unusual, and they have that look about them of a root eater.

Organic tobacco is available. Seriously effective stuff,I've grown tobacco and used it for pest control in regular gardening simply by taking the leaves and soaking in water and then spraying on pests. It works.... learned that from my old gray haired greasy granny.

yeah I forget where I picked up using tobacco. It's serious medicine. It impressed me before I went organic, compared to some nasty stuff.

did someone say boil it?

But is there any way to prevent these nasty root eaters? I know on way to lessen the chances of them but that would be to change my soil and buy a soil without animal manure.
Im going to start my "real" grow in a couple weeks and i dont want to keep having to use this tobacco mixture to kill them. I know that my soil has manure from multiple animals.

hmm... I didn't use any fresh manures, and I narrowed down the possibilities to my worm bin or the fafard top soil i incorporated. This was a small pot, and that thing had nothing to do but eat taproot. I spotted it when I was watering, it came up looking all nasty.

I was like "I don't think so!" and I reached for the nearest tobacco, an old bag of american spirit. I even top dressed a bit, and said "eat it, bitch" as I did.

seeds are expensive!

From what I understand they are symphylans and the term 'symphilids' is not scientifically correct but generally accepted (Scutigerella immaculata). I doubt because in most cases where peeps claim they have them they don't. Have seen peeps misdiagnose basic pest issues for years so especially question a symphylan diagnosis. They are mainly an issue in the Pacific Northwest outdoors. I deal with Oregon Tilth and from what they told me there is no accepted, effective organic control for them known. That was later last year and that could have changed.

Garden symphylans...

You can always use the cut potato method to bait them...if you have them.

I picked up about 300 seeds for 5 bucks...it's self pollenating and made what looks like 100k seeds off 1 plant. Me gotz plenty.

me will getz plenty soon.

mountain - that is interesting.

but I will testify that I saw what I saw, whatever it was, and zapped it with tobacco, which zaps pretty much anything, including humans over time.
