How noisy is the exhaust of the S&P silent fans (specifically the TD350)?

Hey guys, I've got a smallish cab (27"x31"x23") and I'm gonna get a 250w cmh set up, cooled by a S&P TD 350 (206cfm). I will buy a fan controller for it to properly dial it in, but can't afford just now.

I'll be pulling through a carbon filter, then the cooltubed light and out. I'll use rigid ducting where possible but was wondering how noisy the exhaust would be? I.e. would it produce a large whooshing noise? My set up is totally stealth so just trying to cover all areas.

Cheers!

TD 350? Do you mean TD-150?

It's not a "totally stealth" quiet fan. But with a little damping - like wrapped in a blanket - it can be made very quiet.

Forget the speed controller, the mix-vents don't like them that much. At least on the TD MixVents you get a low and high speed connection. Low speed on the 150 is fairly quiet, but with no additional sound damping it would be more than obviously loud in the same room or even behind a closet door (unless it was unusually solid).

I have the TD-150 running through an oversized (6x24) carbon scrubber with rigid ducting. With it well screwed into the mount, it sounds about as loud as a server in the corner.

Putting a 2" foam box dampened it to near unnoticeable.

hey
it is the most silent version of S&P i can compare the sound to the sound of oscillating and pc fans running xD.

That's a good way of explaining the noise level.

I too have the 350; mine is a touch quieter than my Honeywell circ fan. Same level of whoosh, but, on LO speed, less low end motor hum.
