I have these Landrace Iranian Seeds and have a few selected females....I was wondering if I should take an Iranian Male and cross it to an OG Kush or vice versa...Should I take a OG Kush Male and Cross it to my Iranian Female?

I'm not trying to do too much...so its one or the other...what would you guys do? What traits would be Ideal to look for in these Iranian Males...the one I chose was very branchy and just seemed like SHaq comapred to Willow....smelled pretty awsome when I rubbed the stem....keep in mind these have never been indoors b4...so some of the males couldnt handle the lighting or nutes....the one I kept just took everything and was like give me some more...same with the selected females....

thanks for any input:tiphat:

OG Kush male? Do you have some kind of OG Kush male/female seedline or will you reverse a female OG Kush clone? If the latter you'll be able to smoke test both parents which is great (not that you wouldn't be able to reverse an Iranian girl just as well but I'm guessing it's a line of regular seeds and you were planning on using the males).

Otherwise I'd say flip a coin or something, I don't believe there's any way to know which way is better apart from trying both out.

I should have been more clear about the OG Kush...its Tahoe OG x ChemD Bx5....Im pretty sure what Im getting with that male...where in the Iranian Male I have no idea...thats kind of where Im stuck....Many of my Iranian Seeds Hermied on me my first initial run....is that trait only in the females or is it in the male also? Can males pass on Hermi tendicies?
Thanks for the help

Yes I do believe the males can also pass on the trait.

I would look for the most sexually stable Iranian girl you can find, perhaps by purposely stressing them to see how they handle it, and then hit it with the OGxChemD pollen.

Seriously, i would like to know how to select males also, as I never grow them out long enough to really get a handle on their traits.
We all have experience selecting females, but I am pretty clueless on selecting males. Usually cut off branches before the male can really go to town, so I never really see a mature male. Just use whatever male pollen I collect, often mixing several together.

Sounds like a good idea....most likely going to go this route..I can probally pick a better Male from that Cross as well...

The hermie issue is complicated because the triggers are both genetic and environmental. Debates rage, but knowlege remains thin. One thing is certain, the genetic tendancies can be passed on either by males or females. It doesn't really matter much which way you make the initial cross. Better to do both, but one or the other is all most people do. Selection in future generations will be more important. Best thing is to get an experienced breeder to pop in and make the choices. Save tons of time later.
