How safe to order equipment within the EU?

Hei,

I'm sure most of you know the "... &nature" shop based in Germany (trying to avoid showing up on Google searches.)

I wonder is it safe to order from them to Suomi? How hard would customs look at such packages? I guess not so much because it's within the European Union, VAT is already paid...

I have read that ordering from "hydro" stores within Suomi isn't a good idea...

Still, would they X-ray or whatever and open a package containing Advanced Hydroponics products (several - 1 liter of grow, bloom, micro. 500 ml x 3 of others) and CFL bulbs with a reflector?

Anyone order from them frequently or recently?

I wish there were sane laws here! :( You already see people smoking on the street sometimes. I'll save my rantings about governments for another time.

Kiitos. :tiphat:

Hei!
I have ordered from h&n couple of times all kind of growing stuff and nothing bad has happened. Packs are delivered fast, straight to home depending if home or not. Delivering man doesn't call if he/she cant get to building because of locked outer door (apartment building), even pack has phone number on it. Pack goes to post office if cannot deliver straight to receiver.
I dont think pack are X-rayed because they come from another EU-country.

I've read on other forum that you can pay order also with Visa Electron, just select "credit card" in payment option step. That's just rumor, I havent tested it myself.

Hopefully this helps even a little.

It's within the EU so no cutoms. I've ordered from them many times and have no complaints. Cheap and realiable, delivers directly to your door which really comes in handy in large orders. Nothing illegal about some lights and ferts!

Probably it is most safe to order to place where you don't have anything illegal. Some friend maybe who doesn't grow or smoke. But...

I have ordered many many orders from h&n and had never any kind of problems. So I think its safe.

thats good to know, i know its crazy the price difference! $100 so shouldnt have to pay i dont think.

A side from the cold weather its cool then?

Thanks everyone. I'd still be a bit scared about ordering seeds... Unfortunately I don't really have any friends who I could use as a "safe" address...

I think that ordering everything you need, then do nothing for 4-6 months should be okay, though?

You got both packages, though, just had to pick-up one from Posti? Maybe it was too heavy for the delivery person or they got annoyed hauling huge packages to your door. :p

if its over a certain amount it wont clear customs without paying a custom charge, so you would need to pick it up and pay a fee.

Is there some document specifying the maximum weight (and/or size, etc)?

I suppose less than 30 kilograms would be safe, but it's good to know the limits.

No i dont mean size or weight, im talking about how much the parcel is worth. Not sure on the exact amount, but if you go over that amount you have to pay a customs fee. Its a percentage of the total amount of the parcel, i.e i ordered a water valve from america the other week was $35, i had to pay £12 customs and handling fee.

Because a fee has to be payed, the parcel will not be delivered to the address, instead they will post a little note instead telling you theres a custom charge and you have to pick it up from your nearest post office/ depot.

Iv ordered plenty of things from america, never nutes thats why i asked earlier. Iv ordered co2 generators, clothes, trainers and other crap and iv always had to pay some kind of fee unless its under a certain amount.

I think in Suomi when the package's total value including shipping is greater than 45 euros, and it's from outside the European union (that is, you haven't paid VAT) a similar procedure happens here, too.

Some companies have some VAT agreement (for example Amazon UK) so that you can avoid this. You pay the VAT to the company, then they pay it to the government. I assume.
