i was gifted 2 phenos of Rez's DSD and was told to keep an eye one pheno b/c its hermi prone. im not worried cause im always inspecting them so catching stray nanners is no prob and well worth the finished product.
and like you said P that the plants become predictable and the nanners show up like clockwork in the same week of flowering.

So...I came down off my hill.....went to REI and spent $34 and about 80 miles worth of gas to buy slipper repair shit.
Believe it or not...and here I have a problem with modern throw away society:
Store associate: "...just let me give you a new pair dude. No worries."
Me: "nah man I want to fix them and make them better. What am I going to do? Come down here every other week for a new pair? No need for a landfill Broham....I just need to modify them"

I'm going conservative....a little repair here and there....not trying to reinvent the wheel. On close inspection....they are literally falling apart. I wash them in a bucket....even though machine wash is supposed to be ok....I'm smarter than that....they've always been bucket washed and air dried.
No excuses for these slippers....I run them hard.....and that will not stop. I'll tape the shit together until I feel there is nothing left.
I'm already in a $134...not counting time and travel expense. I want fucking results. Just do your god damn jobs....and build quality. What happened to quality? Guess that's why I'm a home grower and my own island.

when and if ya use the aquaseal i would try and tape the inside of the rip so it is smooth on the toe and then stuff the toe and make sure its ot touching the adjacent toe or it will fuse them together, but not permanent.
it takes a while to dry unless using an accelerator, coltol 240 i think, and then dry in 2 hrs.

lol....well I can always keep going back and exchanging them. That option will still be there.
I've had many pairs of my logger boots rebuilt....they are worth the money if you wear them 24/7 like I used to. Now I only put them on when I absolutely must make a living....heavy ass boots...humping up and down the mountains. They aren't comfortable in trees either.....I've always found boot and shoe construction interesting.
Them trees is dangerous.....many a time I've had to run like hell....the fire damaged ones....those are the gnarly ones. Big cat faced burnt out standing god knows how. Can't even wedge fuckers like that.....for fear they crumble down on top of you.

Yup...I used a little bit. I didn't use it on the toe rips though. I decided to Shoe Goo the big toe and the next toe together. 1st I cut out the nylon....so inside it will be flesh on flesh. If the gluing of the toes together like that doesn't feel right....I'll just slit them apart again and try something else.
They are drying now....next I'll slip them on and see how they feel... after they are dry. Fine tune.
I think of my running as a warrior's path.....there can be no bitching then. We are way spoiled by all the wealth and access in this country. Something breaks....something makes you unhappy....you just return it. But where does it go then? One way or the other everyone pays and takes their beatings.
Make decisions and back them....figure your way out.
If I stopped for everything that made me unsatisfied....or stopped for every blister or stubbed toe.....if I didn't get up after each fall....I'd not even entertain the games I play. I'm selfish about my trail time....I work hard to be there. If my shoes are fucked....I unfuck them....

These Ma Kettles are at day 47...the moms of what will be Manzana Bramble (Ma Kettle X I-HOP Grape Krush)....so partially pollinated for the making of Bramble....
....crossing the I-HOP and Affection Pools...I'm thinking of a well shaped, smooth and transitioned carving pool.....with a bowl of deep end expression.....nothing to hang up on....fast and slick. repeated drop ins....only perfect the style.
The plants are of two different expression..... though you'd probably only notice from these pix if you are an experienced Casey Jones grower...or are Blue line broken. It works in my favor for making Bramble that the two moms....show differences.
This one...is the most like the Casey mom I used that I've found so far in the Ma Kettles. Not showing much if any of the Grape Krush
Her sissy here...had to have her top bent and zipped (I showed her when I did that....wks ago).....more the stringy...sling shot ball type stacking of calyxes.. creeper like....showing blue in the flower meat....Thai comes to mind
Making 2nd round modifications on the slippers...slowly making them into something else. The surf bootie shown....looks close to my vision....but is still a 4/1 split on the toes. The slippers are a 3/2 split. I'm making lips...with Goo...to hold my toes in place and coating the exposed Nylon to make it less flexible (toes rip it out on down hills) and more durable.
I'll test them later this week...I want the glues to set up really well before taking them out. I'm molding the interior with paper towel for gluing....that's why the 2 split looks puffy....and I'l leave the 3 split open...want the toes like they are.

look at the way the surf booty has the rubber sole wrapping around the sides and onto the top. if the other shoes had the wrapped toes i think it would be more durable.
i like the blue comming out. i have moscas c-99 and i think i see a blue hue in her but not sure if my eyes are correct.

I agree. I'm going to come at slow. I need them to be more durable.....but I don't want to overcompensate and lose too much free feel. I'm going to patch/coat as they rip. If they do not rip...I'll leave them alone.
having tried them on before I started this last coating session (drying now).....I like the way the toe split feels. Those two toes can touch and spread as well....there is enough room. But....of course...walking in the living room is not the same as coming down a rocky trail section.
I want less a "duck" stance/stride.....and more a slicing pigeon toe drive. A narrow line...on trails....usually allows you to slide through the rocks and their openings....easier.
Having come from a heavy boot and pack wearing background...I naturally duck walk (feet face more out) for traction up and down slope. It's a bit like retraining myself to walk....going minimalist forces you to change things. The muscle in my feet and legs has strengthened dramatically....I can see and feel different muscle outlines.
It is important to keep your feet and legs under you....especially coming down hill at speed. Since the 4mm thick soles of the slippers pad little....it benefits me to be able to keep my line narrow, weight back and feet directly under me....bouncing between or over obstacles on the balls and toes of my feet. If I start "duck footing" to break speed....more so when my legs are jello...that's when I catch/hang up on obstacles....and falls ensue. Fall= injury.
There is method to the madness.

Incredible thread ya got goin here. So interesting, but I must admit, a bit beyond my level of expertise at this point. I've had limited growing experience ('bout 12 crops so far, all indoor in small cabs), and haven't worked with many different strains. Just about the opposite of you...hehehehe.
I'm ready to make the jump to the next level. I'm buying a smallish tent ('bout 5'x5'x7' high), so should be able to grow full size plants with nice size pots 'o soil. Eventually, I'd like to garden/breed like you are doing. Seems fun and interesting making your own crosses, and if done smartly, should result in high grade cannabis as a reward.
I've been reading and reading here on IC, trying to pick 4 strains that make sense to begin a breeding program with. My initial thought was to start with strains that are as close to landrace as possible, and as different as possible (per DJ's advice...I got his book), thinking the progeny would offer up interesting DNA mixes.
After much reading, I confess I am over-fuckin-whelmed! The landraces, especially the sativas, often seem to be uncontained monsters that won't work in a small tent. And, when reading here on IC, I encounter so many contradicting opinions about certain strains, I don't know what to believe.
I've been reading your posts for some time now, and I feel that I can trust your opinions, your mind works much like mine. And your experience is through the roof. So, I'm hoping you can help me choose the strains to start with.
It will help to know my goal(s): overall, I prefer a sativa high, but a comfortable one. Racy is not for me, but psychedelic is a place I love to visit on occasion. Euphoric is a beautiful word and also a mighty fine head/body space to occupy. Big flavors and scents make the world a happier place, and I would hope to have oodles of both in anything I grow. And, its always nice to have onhand a strain that will aid nicely when the time comes to hit the hay.
Variety is the spice of life, and hopefully my breeding program would give me a fantastic variety of strain crosses that would fit the bill no matter what my desires/needs are at the time.
I don't know how hard this would be for you to suggest 4 strains that would be a sensible jumping off point for me...I certainly don't want you to break a mental sweat trying to come up with an answer. But maybe it will be something you can answer right off the top of your head. If by chance coming up with more than 4 easily rolls out of your mind, I should mention that I'm not a rich man, so steering clear of Rez's $180 strains and other costly elites would be the way I would like to go. Unless of course the extra moulah is considered a worthy investment. Strains that are in the $100 range won't stress my wallet. Would spend more for something you consider to be extra special for breeding.

Wiggs bro, don't fear the Satties, most can be controlled through bondage(tie them down). Also, leave them in small pots until after the gnarly stretch is over. Then transplant to bigger pots. The root restriction during early flower seems to help minimize the stretch and transplanting to a bigger pot will really help the yield.One more tip, if trying to run hardcore Sativas indoors, it's a good idea to wait and flower clones. The stretch should be less with the clones than the seed plant.

My top choice for an easy to grow Sativa dominant....that has many interesting phenotypes in the F1....some that yield extremely well...and is top shelf caliber: Casey Jones
She outcrosses so easy a monkey like me can have success....the whole package....a great short cut. Based in Thai....I think even Trainwreck is Thai influenced....and that Diesel H3ad used as a pops did him justice. H3ad has the eye imo...
I wouldn't push this guy into those long flowering bondage Sativas to start with....they can break you off man....lol....I mean really...you want to flow through a few more grows before getting into that.

.....then my head starts going into stuff you could look out for by the private guys....follow the auctions....follow the private guys...watch their threads.....see how they do it...and what they are working with...touch bases....and see when they go to auction. Prices are usually cheaper.
Don't overwhelm yourself with difficult plants...keep it fun. It's easier to get good while having success....ease the trickier stuff in...save yourself agony.

.....then my head starts going into stuff you could look out for by the private guys....follow the auctions....follow the private guys...watch their threads.....see how they do it...and what they are working with...touch bases....and see when they go to auction. Prices are usually cheaper.
Don't overwhelm yourself with difficult plants...keep it fun. It's easier to get good while having success....ease the trickier stuff in...save yourself agony.

Incredible thread ya got goin here. So interesting, but I must admit, a bit beyond my level of expertise at this point. I've had limited growing experience ('bout 12 crops so far, all indoor in small cabs), and haven't worked with many different strains. Just about the opposite of you...hehehehe.
I'm ready to make the jump to the next level. I'm buying a smallish tent ('bout 5'x5'x7' high), so should be able to grow full size plants with nice size pots 'o soil. Eventually, I'd like to garden/breed like you are doing. Seems fun and interesting making your own crosses, and if done smartly, should result in high grade cannabis as a reward.
I've been reading and reading here on IC, trying to pick 4 strains that make sense to begin a breeding program with. My initial thought was to start with strains that are as close to landrace as possible, and as different as possible (per DJ's advice...I got his book), thinking the progeny would offer up interesting DNA mixes.
After much reading, I confess I am over-fuckin-whelmed! The landraces, especially the sativas, often seem to be uncontained monsters that won't work in a small tent. And, when reading here on IC, I encounter so many contradicting opinions about certain strains, I don't know what to believe.
I've been reading your posts for some time now, and I feel that I can trust your opinions, your mind works much like mine. And your experience is through the roof. So, I'm hoping you can help me choose the strains to start with.
It will help to know my goal(s): overall, I prefer a sativa high, but a comfortable one. Racy is not for me, but psychedelic is a place I love to visit on occasion. Euphoric is a beautiful word and also a mighty fine head/body space to occupy. Big flavors and scents make the world a happier place, and I would hope to have oodles of both in anything I grow. And, its always nice to have onhand a strain that will aid nicely when the time comes to hit the hay.
Variety is the spice of life, and hopefully my breeding program would give me a fantastic variety of strain crosses that would fit the bill no matter what my desires/needs are at the time.
I don't know how hard this would be for you to suggest 4 strains that would be a sensible jumping off point for me...I certainly don't want you to break a mental sweat trying to come up with an answer. But maybe it will be something you can answer right off the top of your head. If by chance coming up with more than 4 easily rolls out of your mind, I should mention that I'm not a rich man, so steering clear of Rez's $180 strains and other costly elites would be the way I would like to go. Unless of course the extra moulah is considered a worthy investment. Strains that are in the $100 range won't stress my wallet. Would spend more for something you consider to be extra special for breeding.

sorry to sound like a shill but try Dutchgrowns DTC99 and Laughing Tiger for a sativa,just harvested a scrog under a 400w hps of three DTC99 and one Laughing tiger...

and sweetestcindy99 is stupidly easy to grow and produces nice squat plants with dense trich covered buds,been running this cut for almost a year now...
