GPS TRACKING: How to detect and avoid?

Recently a kid in a town near me took his car for oil change and found a GPS tracking device under his car. THey were tracking him because he was a muslim, but ive also heard about them using to track growers and dealers.

So ive been doing some research about it, trying to find out what they use.

There are two types of trackers AFAIK....the really nice ones that come with computer programs that show every move, even your speed limit, etc require to be plugged in through OBD somehow.

There are also portables, that have around a 30 day battery life.

So what i recomend is that you take your car and have the bottom checked out every once and a while. i have several cars, and right now i use them in phases. i keep car 1 outside and use it for a few weeks. then i garage it and check under neath it with flashlight. i look for anything that looks cleaner than surrounding parts, out of place, or wires. although smart cops would weather their units to maybe match surroundings.

then i keep that car garaged for as long as possible, hoping that if they have a portable unit the battery will die.

but im wondering if they have super advanced units they could simply hide in your bumper or even exhaust, while looking under my car i saw several places where my flashlight could not shine (like inside the stepside rail for chevys).they could just toss a unit in there and be good to go.

so another option is to have some kind of frequency scanner or something, but while looking online these devices seem to be something of "myth" out of hollywood, but i know they HAVE to exist some where!!

please add your input if you have any, this is a serious topic because GPS is the NEW way to track criminals. its very easy for them to do, they could throw GPS units on five different growers and just sit back at their computers doing five different investigations at once. very scary stuff people! i remind you to do GPS scanner checks at least once a month!!! it just takes 10 minutes and a flashlight.

greatsouthernsecurity for all your needs. i got a bug detector from them. it picks up gps too. some gps trackers dont send sifnals till the vehicle is moving so make sure to test while driving too. i am a little fish but enjoy gadgets and piece of mind. jamming units can be had too if you look around .

FWIW I would worry more about carrying my cellphone than a GPS tracker if you are willing to not have a cell with you get yourself one of those cell/gps jammers and you will be golden.

dude you're in california there are literally thousands of people growing more than you are. unless you are trafficking heroin interstate or something...then maybe buy one of those GPS jammers....

but this is a good point since im always looking for undercovers, etc but im sure they would just bug me....

definately think the phone is more important to worry about....phones are the easiest way for the cops to breach your security and find stuff to use against you in court....a GPS log showing you simply going to a certain house isnt as incriminating as a voice recording in court..

If you are seriously concerned about being tracked, a jammer is your best option. The GPS satellite signals are so weak, that it doesn't take much to disrupt them.

Some of the trackers just record your movements to the flash memory in the unit and do not broadcast anything, thus a "bug" detector will detect nothing. They'll collect the record later and see where you went.

Just don't get caught using the jammer!!! There are felony charges for "disrupting public services" The cigarette lighter thing could get passed-off as a FM radio MP3 player.

Some vehicles have a single wire that can be opened to the instrument panel that interrupts the spedo and odometer. (Discovered by accident, and records no miles while wire is "broken") Could be useful if the mileage needs to match the driving recorded by a tracking device.

Every high-tech toy has a weakness or 12 that can be used against them. The more law enforcement relies on the sexy high-tech toys, the better....

Stay safe.

Doing a sweep in real life requires a fair bit of equipment and years of training granted the NSA likely isn't after you but I wouldn't just wave one device around and think I'm in the clear. Here is a interesting link for TCSM.

Go for the cigarette lighter GPS jammer if you're worried about a plant. It's more common that they would use some sort of cell phone tracking though. Wrap the thing in tin foil or simply turn it off and remove the battery. I knew of some growers back home that preferred to do everything by bicycle too. Throw it all in an Xtracycle/trailer, get some exercise, and no GPS unit will fit there. Go green with green or something?

Ride a bicycle

Ride a bicycle

because you won't have to spend $4.00 per gallon of decomposed dino's, bike's also are inconspicuous, CCTV can't even track 'em.

actually most bug detectors are very easy to use and you can learn to use them quick. but like anything else you get what you pay for

1) Please take a picture of any and all GPS tracking devices you discover on your car. LOL

2) You got a lot more to worry about from real cameras on satellites that don't even need a device to track you. They're watching your every move. Check out google earth. That's the free stuff the public gets to use.

3) Make all your moves when its cloudy or foggy. LOL

Once a GPS device has been attached to a car...the targeted person already has a LOT more to worry about - whether the GPS tracker is being found or not.

PS: Messing with a detected GPS tracker only ads to the charges >>> Altering evidence.

One more thing while in court I heard evidence given in a drug case where they got a warrant for some unlucky guys onstar for tracking and audio makes me wonder if he got his moneys worth out of that option

In regards to trackers being put on cars. I have seen them and I have seen undercover cops and feds come into my work to look at various cars to see where they can put these trackers. They are about 6inch x 6inch and are black in color. They are stuck underneath the car using a very strong magnet. From watching and working with these guys only through my old job, looks like they are usually placed in the back underside of your vehicle. They do have a built in battery. When I escorted the undover agent into our yard he began looking under the back side of the vehicle by gas tank. He told me the rear of the car was the best place to put these units.

:yeahthats

hate to break it to you guys but your not Tony Montana. Most LEO don't give a shit about you and certainly aren't wasting their time putting gps trackers on your fucking cars.

I hope thats a joke lol.... If you think that the gov is using satellites to track growers you need a reality check.

They also have cell phone jammers.
Great in the post office or supermarket, or anywhere else people are annoying you. I always carry one.

For real? U rockin a 1k grow I'm assuming? BTW for what its worth, its very easy to see when someone is intentionally jamming a cell phone signal which will if anything draw more attention to you.

you fuckers need to stop watching Jesse Ventura and lay off the sativa a bit.
