New York States Largest Indoor Grow Op Busted

He said the indoor hydroponic marijuana growing operation was "highly sophisticated," producing plants that would yield about two pounds each of high-grade marijuana.

I wonder if the feds know that their numbers are off by like 90% and they just do it for a bigger story, or whether they really think that this 1,000sqft house was pumpin out 2,000 pounds every 60 days.

They had been investigating extraordinarily high utility bills from a couple of properties, typically a clue to so-called grow houses.......Growers had apparently bypassed the electrical meters to avoid detection at the South Road house and another property; two other properties, including some of the buildings at the Pine Kill address, were powered by commercial grade diesel generators.

This is all sorts of fucked up. Gennys at one, stealing at another, paying at the third? wtf. Out of the three, for NY, paying was the dumbest.

Another suspect told police about most of the other properties. From there, authorities hit house after house through the night and early morning, raiding addresses on South Road and Brooktrail Road in the Town of Mamakating; on Decker Road, Tuthill Road and Haring Road in Lumberland; and on Barker Road in the Town of Highland.

I didn't know that. I assumed that they would serve their time here and THEN be deported. If they just get deported that is a really dumb way of doing it. Shit if I was mexican I'd do the same thing in a heart beat.

I wish they had pics of the actual grow instead of backing up a fucking uhaul to show the reporters.

EDIT: Also if they think this is even close to the biggest op in NY state, they are kidding themselves.

Always included in the headline is that these "Big Drug Rings" are setting up highly sophisticated grow operations producing "high grade" marijuana. As if they were capable of making bombs, automatic weapons or pure grade heroin ! The truth is almost everything one needs is easily found down on the shelves of a local Lowes or Home Depot ....but it sure sounds good on the headline.

The law picked up on it. The media sensationalized it and the hysterics started. At the cost now of harsher cultivation laws and increased surveillance. I have no sympathy for these people.
