Dehumifier water questions

Hey all, not sure if this has been asked before, or thought about...but...

I recently bought a new (to me) dehuey, and I went to empty it the other night, and just for shits and giggles I decided to check the tds; my taps tds is around 300ppm, the water in the dehuey res was 50pm! And I think the only reason the tds was 50, was because there was what looked like algae and other build ups in the res from the previous owner.

Since the water is from condensation, it should ph out at 6.5-7....

My question is... does anybody use dehumidifier water to water plants? It should be close to RO water, since it's purely the collection of condensation....

Just curious...:tiphat:

Yes, whenever I have a drain line problem on a dehuey, I dump the dehuey tank on the plants closest to the fans (since they transpire more anyway.) Like you said, it's pretty damn pure water, no need to dump it down the drain. Been doing this for 8 years now.

i use mine for foliar feeding and flushing or just topping off a res. i too like lazy have done this for years... however- i spoke with a very cool and knowledgable guy at cutting edge nutrients and he said something i never even thought about- he said he doesn't use it cuz he doesn't want to spread pathogens ? so now i will use a little 35% h2o2 with it first. usually. i would wait a couple hours if using dehumi water + 35%h2o2 on anything organic or living in root zone (bennies). this works for me-:2cents:

dehumidifier????????? i must mist, vaporize, drip towels and otherwise put at least 2 gallon of water a day into my basement just to get the humidity level above 55%. right now i use rainwater filtered thru cheesecloth but by the end of my grow in july i'll be recycling the dehumidifier water.

ya man it's ideal water, and if you let it drip into your reservoir it adds so much air.
just put your drain hose over your reservoir and let it drip in, it's the water fall effect.

try it. do this and then take a bucket and poor it back into the tank, watch how many bubbles you get when the water hits the water...

Thanks to those who replied...I just wanted to make sure...

I may use it in addition to the other tap water, since my nutrients are designed for tap water...

Thanks again! :tiphat:

Make sure the tubing inside the dehumidifier is somehow treated, normally it is made from copper which will be in the water to some degree. I once read about a possible toxicity of doing exactly what you do, but I mixed it with RO water which shouldn't have any copper to start with, so I figured I should be on the safe side.
