What's everybody growing this year?

Nice lists everybody. One big concern of mine is the deer & rabbits. My yard is frequented by families of deer daily. I think they all live in the woods behind my house. To get a 8ft tall fence built it's going to cost me $2000 that I'm not even sure I can budget by this summer.

Anyone have any tricks or tips to keep them away? Last summer I sprayed liquid fence every night and my tomatoes still got attacked a couple times and it really sucked.

Looking good everyone! I'm doing:

TOMATOES: Brandywine, Cherokee Purple (we call it C-Purps)

PEPPERS: California Wonder, hot mixed selection (it's mainly serrano, jalapeno and hungarian wax from what I can tell from last years harvest)

HERBS: basil, oregano, cilantro, rosemary, parsley, purple garlic from the hippie co-op, lemon balm, sage

OKRA: Burgundy

WATERMELON: Orangeglo

CANTALOUPES: saved seed from an amazing hybrid called "Tuscan Melon" from Dulcinea Corporation I got at the Fresh Market. Had to research to determine where it came from and the fact that it was hybridized. Not sure whether I'll get anything good since it was a hybrid. Anyone know about what might result? Maybe also Athena or Pride of Wisconsin

BEANS: Turkey Craw pole beans, a vigorous local heirloom.

CORN: Not sure yet. Any suggestions for 35 latitude?

SPINACH: Not sure what kind of seed I've got

BRUSSELS SPROUTS: Again, don't know what kind I've got.

MARIGOLDS: Whatever the plant I've been saving for the past 5 years is.

POPPIES: Hens and chicks, Lollipop

OTHER FLOWERS: Four o'Clocks, cleomes (good patch to put a couple of autos in!) hollyhocks, countless others.

SUNFLOWERS: Some kind of giant with Russian lineage. They sag over they're so big. Good for composting (adds P and especially K) and feeding the birds.

CUCUMBERS: Straight 8

CABBAGE: might get some, anyone got a good rec for 35 lat?

Peace, Grim

Use, fence it in and get a dog. My backyard is fenced and my mutt keeps pretty much anything from getting in except the occasional rabbit/rat etc. He loves chasing some critters. I'll lose a few tomatoes and cukes but have so many it doesn't matter. Little guys are pretty ballsy to venture back there so I guess they deserve a few.

What Am I growing this year? Besides weed, we have the coffee trees in full bloom.
Also ground cherries, we call them Pohas. Avacados are halfway ripe, but the rain has messed up my roses....again.

Also Grape tomatos, bush cucumbers, string beans, brocolli, cauliflower, sweet peppers, potatos, Silver Queen corn and sweet onions.

With all the rain the citrus is looking good. Grapefruit, both Texas white and pink, Tangerenes, Tahitian Limes, and Navel Oranges.

Add that to the white and red plums, Bartlet pears, and Nectarienes.

Did I miss anything? oh yes. Lemons.

This year im growing:
Peppers: jalapeno, habanero and sweet paprika
Tomatoes: brandywine, black russian, ildi, totem, coctail rosso and romas
Basil: Thai, two different lemon basil, small and broad leaved and ruffed purple
Nantes carrots, rubine brussels, heirloom broccoli, tobacco and tigernut
Asian veggis: Mizuna, rats tail (Raphanus sativus L. 'Münchner Bier') and celtuce
Beans, neckargold, yard long, borlotti and sugar snap peas
Radishes, golden beets, jerusalem artichokes, potatoes, strawberries, turkish egg aubergines.. i think i have to stop, you get the picture.

I grow all organic here, fuelled by weed tea and kelp from the sea and shit from nearby cows. My garden is protected from deer and other shit with lots and lots of sea, and strong herbs that only attract my kind of insects, beneficinary ones (is that word right, i hope so :p).

I also grow perennials, trees and bushes (often historical roses, since the seeds are easy to steal, and nobody minds anyway) for guerilla gardening in norway. This year im gonna plant Acer Griseum - paperbark maple!

and i love to grow me some green, growing ml can be sort of addictive ;)

@hunt-last year we had about 30 peppers on the back porch (leftovers from the actual garden) and they produced like mad! I still have some frozen from last years harvest. Those babies are so fun to grow! Best wishes

should I be feeding my veggies bloom food?

yea when i transplant all my stuff to the ground outside i give everything a good soak with some pure blend pro flower (coco/soil) and then again in a week. some of the larger stuff i will continue to fertilize, and depending i may hit everything 1x a month well. but I also use a lot of sustane 4-6-4 slow release and the soil here is very rich so i dont need that much ferts. ymmv

although the herbs, basil, mints, etc. etc. leafy shit i stick with the grow ferts more but flower ferts wont really hurt them or anything.
