Well I've had these two in the fridge for quite some time. Need something to help with insomnia. I've read Nirvana has stronger plants but with lots of variation, but Mandala has more uniform plants with a higher vigor. Which would you run, it would be a night time smoke to help relax the body and mind before bed. Thanks all

Nirvana's NL leaves you groggy in the morning if you use it for sleep. I've used it as a sleeping aid personally but am looking for something else now. However, they are very vigorous and quite uniform in my opinion.

Haven't tried the Sadhu but still recommend that you choose it. Also let me know how it works out for you so I'll start growing it too if it's good (for sleep). ;)

wow...i'm surprsed to hear that the NL from Nirvana can be that strong...i like heavy indica's so i'm now leaning toward NL even tho you recommended the Sadhu...Sadhu seems more of a chill weed but hard to tell with lack of reports and NL can be quite good i've just never tried Nirvana's seed version...only clones from my local area of NL but who knows if thats what they really were and i don't know the guy i got them from anymore

i grew sadhu one of my top 3 favorite strains was really good for body aches, nausea, appitite etc. pretty uniform very frosty, great yeilds & strong in potencey but didnt find it to be all that great for sleep since it still has a strong head high & can get a bit intense especially the creeper pheno (for me atleast) but maybe it will effect you differently (different body chemistry) maybe grow out 5 of each & see what suites you best for the next run.If you chose to do sadhu i suggest 9-10 weeks flower.

NL hands down.
If your insomnia is really bad and you need something stronger also consider Aurora Indica (NL x Afghan).

People often commented on how different sadhu was from "normal" weed. If you want something unique and easy to grow sadhu is a nice fit. It has a nice comfy high.

I havent grown Nirvana's NL but ive grown 4 or 5 others. Most are similar. Ive grown Sadu although it was outdoors.

I would grow the NL. I didnt care for the Sadu at all. It grew ok and was a decent plant, but the smoke is expansive and greasy. The potency was moderate, but the high is dull and boring ...after you stop choking and was more balanced than one might expect. Not a sleepy knockout really

Both plants will yeild well, but the high from the NL is going to be more narcotic and relaxing and the smoke will be smoother, at least in my opinion

howdy, long time NL grower (seed bank 1994) and fan.Sleep problems? Hold in flower untill tric's carmelize(?) very mature anyway. 1 gram plus two pots fresh ground expresso equaled a nap before noon. That was 78 days. Good luck, nighty night...

Well I don't know if the groggyness in the morning is just about potency, in fact I'm worried that it somehow interferes with sleep in a bad way and that's the cause. But of course it sure beats staying awake all night if that is the case otherwise.

Oh and yes and as others have noted, when growing NL for a sleeping aid be sure to let it properly mature until you see plenty of amber trichomes. This will be about 10 weeks from the first pistils.

I've never grown nirvana nl, but voted for it cos i have grown sahdu and i thought it was average at best. Plus i heard good stuff about nirvana nl. Still if you want a good yielding indica, with a fantastic smell and resin production, i can suggest 2 strains that i can personally guarentee will be great, as ive grown/smoked them plenty. White label white ice and power plant. Power plant being my favourite, i just bought more.

i grew Hashberry before and found it mediocre at best which is why I have a slight hesitation regarding Sadhu...the fact that others have called it average is quite disheartening...sounds like the Nirvana NL is a pretty good strain, i grew Aurora Indica and loved it but wanted something a lil less knock your socks off!

well this thread is very very close...i'm gonna wrap it up in a few days and plant the winner so please keep the input coming i appreciate everyone's experiences

I was disapointed by Sadhu...an average indica, though I am a fan of hashberry in spite of modest yield.

The sad thing: Nirvan's NL has changed...it used to be so wonderful about five years ago, and now it is narcotic and heavy...

I'd say neither.

Well damn, if the Nirvana NL and Aurora Indica is as potent as claimed, I might have to look into them eventually. I have wicked bad chronic insomnia and it's nice to find a strain that works. I ran across some mids about 6 months ago that had me sleeping like a baby. Saved some of those beans for a future run.

I found the Papaya much to my liking in the sleep department too.

Im growing some DR Atomic Northern Lights at the moment, but am going for some mandala genetics next time around. I'd like to mix up some good organic soil with very little if any ferts as Ive heard being a landrace they do well with very little food. im also curious of the anti anxiety benefits it has.

Id go mandala.

well my Nirvana NL is from 2006 seed stock so i'm hoping that its the old version that so many were in love with...Aurora Indica is a really body/head ringer that melts the world away and wanted something not as intense as it was a bit groggy if used to late in the evening and would pretty much end a days dreams if smoked early in the morning leaving one debilitated...Seed packs for NL are marked Apr 06 so i'm hoping its the older version that has both narcotic and also more mellow pheno's...i've heard both versions are very nice in the yield department

*The Nirvana NL, Afghan and Widow i have are all from 2006 when I first started growing and didn't realize nirvana made knock off's and now they've sat quite a while...figure use them soon (glad i got the Afghan as its discontinued and was phenomenal when i grew her in 06)

I'd vote for Papaya.
I have no idea of the Sadhu but the last NL I had (probably Nirvana) was the most boring weed ever.

wow grandzior that looks a lot like my Nirvana Aurora Indica that I had a few years back...my selected pheno was very very leafy but grew into gigantic donkey dick size cola's and the potency wasn't far behind the yield...seems it was a very NL dominant pheno based on your pics...Northern Lights and Sadhu are now at a dead tie, i may just do 5 of each, i'm trying to keep my numbers low tho and half a pack is often hard to judge (heck when I grow Shantibaba's packs I feel half doesn't do a strain justice and there are 18+ a pack)...Neville feels that around 50plants gives you a good feel of what a strain has to offer, seems Nirvana NL is the safer bet as its been grown more...Sadhu is appealing but very few guides are available it seems to be one of the few Mandala strains not many people have grown...i just get concerned its similar to Hashberry which by all accounts was the least potent strain i'd ever grown and it required a very hefty dose to have minimal effects...anyone with last words before i take the seed outta the fridge
