ak47 or ak48 for cherry flavour?

H

Habel

Ive always wanted to try breeding for fun so have been planning out a few strains i want to try and make.

One of them is a large producing cherry flavour (my favourate fruit!) plant. I will call it Cherry Bomb! Although someone prob gona say that name is taken..

So i was thinking of crossing ak47 or 48 with another large budded plant to do this, so before i buy the seeds, is there much difference between the cherry phenoes of these two breeds? has any one tried both and can say which has the best cherry flavour?

Just want to know if its worth the extra money for 47, as i mite not even get the pheno i want in one pack?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

get the ak47 from serious seeds. simon has perfected it. see if you can get non feminized. still find some variations in that pack... his fem seeds are solid but all close to the same. and, if its breeding you want to do, you will need m and f..
oh, yes! get the 47 its worth the extra money... ak48 is a crazy cross of a cross of a cross... just one mans opinion

I grew the AK 48 and there was crazy variation. That said I had found several keepers. I kept the best tasting and it has given one panic attack and one seizure... Light wights yes but strong non-the-less.

I've grown AK48. It was OK, but no Cherry pheno from the pack I ran

There is variation in the line, I found like 3 phenos

Have smoked the AK47 and it is a better smoke IMO. Can't speak about how often the cherry pheno expresses.

I got one of these "cherry" phenos in a pack of FMS Pure AK.

It was cloned and is now on the 3rd run, knockout type stone that even the most experienced smokers enjoy.....Its all my friends have been wanting, had to adjust my grow to include more pf the Pure AK to keep up w/ what people are wanting.

has one of you for the cherry pheno of AK-47 tried again.?

Not sure what you mean?

Thanks everyone for the advice, but im stil no closer to deciding!

Sounds like ak-47 has less variation, smells like cherry, but doesnt taste like cherry.

AK48 has loads of variation, but if u get the cherry one it tastes amazing and is really strong?

I cant speak for the AK 47 I havent grown any out.

My only experience is with FMS Pure Ak, yeah that pheno has a strong cherry smell. The taste is more subdued, theres a hint of cherry but it isnt overpowering.

As for the potency, the pheno I kept is very strong. Some of the strongest Ive had in some time. It actually screed for a little bit, EVERYONE wanted the Ak and that was it. I sat on some good Hashplant and Sharksbreath for a while. All my people are Ak happy since Ive gotten it.

i have 6 ak females in the first week of budding right now, killed 5 males...i vegged them for one month along with 10 chemdog ibl's and 5 og kush fems...the ak's were planted a week later than the other two strains, but they completely overtook the others, beginning with germination, at this point they are almost twice as big as everything else, and twice as stinky(although nothing cherry). the males all showed at 3 to 4 weeks, and 4 of the females were showing at the one month mark. serious seeds ak47 is the most vigorous and healthy strain i have ever grown. personally i don't believe in the knockoff's, as good as some of them may be, its still stealing if you ask me.

anyways, i have been reading every thread on this site that even mentions ak47 for the past few weeks and i have heard different things...
if you read the strain guide it seems like almost half the people that grew the strain found a "cherry" pheno, and most seem quite sure of it. there are also several reputable growers claiming to have the cherry pheno.
on the other hand i have also read several growers reporting that the cherry pheno's cherry smell doesn't carry over into the dried product, nor the taste..
lastly i have read the words of simon, the breeder himself, stating that in all his years growing, breeding, and smoking ak47 he has never found a "cherry" pheno, nor has anyone been able to show him one, he seemed to be under the belief that in order to taste cherries you really had to stretch your imagination, and that it was probably just a myth...

well it's hard to argue with the breeder himself but their seems to be a lot of different opinions, mine are only at day 6 flowering and even if i had one it wouldn't be smelling much yet, no more than the others i suspect. i have heard estimates anywhere from 1 out of 100 seeds being a cherry pheno to many people claiming to get them in every pack...

is ak47 the only strain that has ever been described as having a cherry taste? seems like there aught to be a strain out there among the thousands that has a reliable cherry flavor... i dunno lol good luck!

I got an incredible cherry cough syrup pheno out of serious's white russian...I haven't read of anyone else getting the cherry to come out in the WR...but if I was going for cherry I'd pick up some of serious ak47 and do a micro open pollination seedrun to start and start searching.

The one I've had experience w/the cherry definitely fades w/cure, but it's still there faintly in the aroma. Low yielding sativa leaning, and awesome.

i've run both and if ur planning to throw some pollen around use the 47 with out a dought much more uniform of a plant . i used a stud from the 47 on a few different things i was working on and it really shined in its offspring but hey thats just my 2 pennies

IMHO the cherry ak47 phenos are for the birds...

You want the lower yielding sandlewood/spicier/piney phenos. Much better looking nugs ime and a whole bunch stronger. Everyone always posts about the cherry ones but those are definitely secondary in quality... although I guess it's all subjective...

good advice blizz. good to hear from sum 1 whos grown both.

Intresting point VADO. Il make sure to try that aswell wen i grow a pack.

i personally say AK 47 . i have grown and breed with it . and for what your looking for i suggest just that . i recmend grabing like 2 packs because we saw aproximatley 3 phenos out of our grow of AK47. a indica dominate pheno.a sativa dominate pheno, and ca nice hybrid good mixture of both pheno.then the cherry pheno . just one plant elussive but worth it .
