ImaginaryFriend's INTERPRETATION of Delta9nxs' PASSIVE PLANT KILLERS

But I might just move her, take lots of pics on her progress and height/stretch. Then try it on the next girl into 12-12 (identical clone) and see if I can make any meaningful comparisons.
Have you ever considered my webcam / timelapse movie trick? A cleverly positioned camera could see your temp and RH meters as well as a yardstick for growth.

I'm telling you its a cool tool to use and very educational...

WOW I'm going to have to read this whole dang thing.
Good luck with that. The first few pages are a decent overview of the PPK system (or at least, the best I could come up with). Now that I think of it, some parts need to be updated.

After that, it's mostly foolery and idyll speculation.

Clever. Environmental conditions in the foreground, results in the back. It'll mean that there'll be no more checking the garden in my undies, but I guess, in the name of science, more terrible things have been suffered.

In the name of science, of course.

I do hate pants, though.

Ah... the on-going pants vs. plants debate.

Can you love one and hate the other?

Indifferent to both, while still maintaining your humanity?

Do kilts offer a middle ground?

These are questions that keep the great minds of our generations awake at night, and I, for one, am ill-suited to tackle them...

Scheduling update: Looks like the next girl should move sometime in the next two days. The 12-12 room is slowly filling up. It'll take a bit of updated plumbing, etc to make it work, but should be okay (under an hour to get the PPKpod transferred).

It looks like I got my target growth that I thought I might need (I noted a need for 10"ishness about 19 days ago). I transferred the last lady at 26" and she's stretched to 36" in two weeks... so I might really be filling out the garden. More terrifying is the fact that the girls behind her are already nearing 20" tall, and the last to leave the room is still going to get another 48 days in 18-6. That's just stupid. I'll have to defoliate like a bitch starting... well... right away. Stunt her to pieces!

I'm tempted to move her now, but I'm lazy and tired. The other girls in the 18-6 space are super crowded, and I'm not super stoked with their growth patterns right now. Too much upper canopy, not enough light penetration. It's resulting in more internal stretch and confusion than I'd like, but once I'm in cycle, everything should be alright, and I should be getting closer to my target structures. Moreover, my girls will be getting way less time under 18-6, so the challenge will move from making them smaller to making them bigger, again.

Plant transferred and plumbed.

---

I also got around to defoliating the shit out of my favorite 'next' girl. She gets the most attention (position, most likely) and had the 'best' structure. Against my initial inclination (I wanted to move her into 12-12 soonest), I stripped her bare to slow her down, and will move the mostest-crazy-leggiest bitch into 12-12 next... mostly 'cause she's promising to be too damn much plant for the space already.

I'm also topping secondary leads to try and bring overall volume back into control...

And then it's back to the game: Can I clone?

Time flies when your watching TV, ignoring dishes, drinking a lot of coffee, and lurking various obscure online forums...

Just about half way to chop on the first lady.

The second plant in 12-12 is a promising specimen...

---

3.28 The aggressive defoliation has really set the chosen girl back. Just like I had hoped.

The third lady in 12-12 is pretty interesting. I think I could have left some of her lower structure more intact. I'll just keep watching and see how she develops, and let that guide the rest of the girl's development. The 18-6 room was way too crowded, so it's easy to loose track of the structure I am looking for to the upper canopy. We'll see what happens when I get everything on schedule.

Phenotype vs. Genotype

Phenotype vs. Genotype

For years, I've heard plants of grown from seedstock of the same lineage but with different characteristics referred to as different phenos.

Really, aren't they different 'genos'?

'Cause a phenotype, by definition, is genotype interacting with environment.

I am growing the same geno (i.e. clone stock), in a different environment, and her characteristics are dramatically different from her last run... so in this case, the differences ought to be described as phenotypical... as the genotype is the same.

But really, when we talk about a taller plant vs. a shorter plant out of the same lineage, aren't we really talking about different genotype rather than phenotypes?

If so, how the hell did the entire community (even pretty clever folks) slip into this gross inaccuracy? Because both ideas are pretty relevant, and there are so many keen growers when it comes to plant physiology/botany... maybe this is an issue that gets raised often enough, but has become so standard that it is impossible to break common word use practices...

yes, BUT...phenotype: it is also defined as :
An individual or group of organisms exhibiting a particular phenotype. <that clears it up!

Sure...

So a bunch of the same genos in the same room together are phenos.

I've always scratched my head over this one, but the girls I'm growing right now look way more like all the other pics of their lineage now that the relative humidity is higher than 10% and they're not living 100+ degree temps. Which means I'm actually seeing differences in phenotype within the same genotype. So now I actually get to see what 'phenotype' means first hand. And I'll no longer understand the rest of the culture/community, as I transform to incoherently ironic to abusively literal.

More importantly, just listen to what I'm saying here: plants grow differently in rainforest conditions rather than desert. Shattering insight, right? Who would have thunk it?

Wait, I am going to practice my ABUSIVE LITERALNESS:

WHERE TALKING ABOUT DIFFERENTIATION BETWEEN GENOTYPES HERE! NOT FUCKING PHENOTYPE! WHERE THE FUCKING FUCK DID YOU FUCKING LEARN BOTANY? LETS SEE SOME FUCKING SOURCES, ASSHAT! HOW ABOUT A SOME PICS OF A GROW BEFORE YOU COME SHITTING UP MY THREAD! WHAT ARE YOU, A FUCKING COP?

(I know it wasn't very good, but it was my first try at being angry on the internet. I hope it will get better with time and arrogance. (Once, I got mad at a bit of a shit who was cluttering threads, talking about elephants in rooms, or some such nonsense. And then I hit ignore, and I never saw another post from him. Strange how that worked. Maybe I can be that guy. Wait, he's probably reading this post. Sorry, that guy. I guess I'm being mean. But you're still the only member on my ignore list.))

Can anyone tell me what 'asshat' means?

I haven't been very proactive managing my fungus gnats. I tried a couple of casual neem foliar feeds, that seems to have largely kept everything in check for all but lady number two in 12-12. The sticky traps hung about her base show a rather significant presence of the little root chewing buggers.

So at the beginning of her day, I pulled her out of the PPK network, prepped the 1:4::detergent:Neem oil media drench and soaked the root zone with a couple of gallons (~30mL detergent:120mL unrefined pressed Neem). I let her drain into an alternative container for about an hour until there was no more dripping, etc when I tipped her about.

I am pleased to report that she looks no worse for wear this morning. Now I just have wait a week and see if was of any benefit.

I am concerned about it effecting taste, but she still has about forty days of flower ahead of her, so I hope is won't be too much of a problem.

If I am even moderately proactive, I'll prep the same for number three and give her a nice soaking soon (as she's still over the 50 days of flower that I read that Neem is systemic for--according to my 'research'), and then get all the girls in veg in the next couple of days.

Hey Bro.....We gotta getchas outta lazy mode when environment`s everything.......Have lurked your threads for awhile.....Respect....

Fungas gnats are easily done away with using mosquito dunks from Lowe`s/Home Depot crumbled up on top of coco and watered in....

If in the budget , Gnatrol "WDG"(water dispersion granules) ftw.....

Same shit "Bacillus Thurengensis Israeli " (sp)? best I can remember......

Anyways.......Good luck....DHF.......:ying:......

DHF,

If you, or anyone else, can get me out of lazy mode... holy shit. I can't even begin to imagine the consequences... it may undermine the structure of the universe itself...

It would be like the sun rising in the west...

Peanut butter and jelly no longer going together...

I would sooner expect to see:
-A government of and for the people...
-Corporate responsibility...
-A remake of Star Wars Episodes I,II,III eliminating asinine Caribbean accents and a return to subtitles.

I would bet my life savings on 00 in roulette*, before I would bet on me becoming un-lazy.

But, Armageddon is right around the corner. The world is a rapidly changing place. Maybe, just maybe, we might see such a thing in our lifetimes...

*It should be noted that my life-savings consists of the third largest rubber band ball in this hemisphere, a lunch-box collection including every Peanuts and Wonder Woman metal box known to modern man, and three dollars, fifty six cents. So, that's a huge bet in roulette. The odds would be so good. I'd have to talk to the cashier on how to you pay off a bet with a like-new Wonder Woman lunch-box at like two-fifty to one?

Defoliated the shit out of 18-6. Trying to stunt them.

EDIT: This was stupid, as I didn't have to stunt one of them. OOPS.

Pulled a lot of mass out of 12-12. Light penetration looks like it's not making it back three inches deeper than where I stripped out the inner growth... So I'm beating all that back.

Crazy.

The Med-Man is talking about a prolonged dark period (36 hours) to load hormones in plants and force flower a week earlier than just moving them into 12-12.

I am scheduled to move yet another lady into the 12-12 room in just two more days. So I pulled one from the 18-6 room and tossed her into a closet. She's nicely saturated, so she should be fine until this time two days from now. I hope. On the one hand, I don't want to peak and spoil the game, on the other, I'm a bit scared I'll forget about her.

This is a new genetic to me, and I moved her sister into 12-12 two weeks ago. Although the internodes are stacking nicely, she is just starting to hint at setting flowers; so I am willing to check out what thirty six hours of dark might do for this lady. Apparently, she really might stretch in the dark; she went in at 26" from base to primary terminal and I hope to remember to measure her on the way out. The girl in the closet isn't as dense or vegged out as her sister was, despite being of equivalent heights. For reference, the lady already in 12-12 went in at about 26" and is currently terminating around 32" after 14 days. Lady #2 went in at 26" and is just tipping out over 36" after 30 days of flower, and plan on running her about 64ish (I know I should run her 'till she's done, and maybe she will be, but space and time make other demands)... so hopefully stretch is over for number two (she's an indica dominant genotype).

TEASER ALERT: I snapped a couple of photos of her, but the closet was in no way prepared for this whimsical move and still holds some personal belongings. So I guess I'll have the shots for personal reference, but without some effort and an editor to remove some identifiable details, they'll probably get looked at once and deleted from the world.

UPDATES:

I'm venting my 12-12 room at 70 degrees right now, to reduce humidity (as Lady #1 is only ~16 days from getting the chop)...

There are still signs of fungus gnats active in Lady #2's media, and a few fliers kicking around the garden still...

I was just lurking about on the farm...

MrDizzle has a thread where he's refilled his MPB setup with a 70:30::pearlite:Coco mix and is running them as automated hempies. If you ain't scared to jump offsite, you can find it here (EDIT: I guess you'll have to find it yourself).

Each stage of his game, he moves on step closer to the PPK. He is feeding more and more frequently, limiting his runoff... Some folks have asked about integrating a wick to the system... you know, like a nylon rope or something... but that hasn't really caught any traction just yet in his thread.

I thought about helping out with a link or two, but I don't have an account... so they'll just have to invent PPKs on their own.

I know mrdizzle posts here... maybe giving him a heads up might be an easier answer then setting up an account just to say "look".

Either way, he's killing it over there. Nice, nice gardens.

---

GARDEN UPDATE: The girl went into the dark looking beat up and came out desperate for light, leaves reaching ceilingward, but looking great. She measured just under 28" coming out, but her leaves were so perky it's hard to tell if she really stretched.

She's plumbed into 12-12, and the space is full.

Perpetually?

Hi *mistress*.

Thanks for dropping in. Wish I saw what you had to say... but I know how it goes.

Anyway, thanks for visiting.

---

Girl number three is showing her early flower set. It's about 16 days into flower. The same time frame as the second lady.

This is what I expected.

So something must be wrong.

will maybe visit again to discuss these points, etc, if ok......
You are welcome to discuss whatever comes to mind in this thread...

I ought to confess, however, I have done some seriously casual stalking of your posts on this forum. So consider yourself warned. You will be entering stalker city. It's creeper in here.
