Movie The Green Rush

Many members may dream of living in Northern California and growing outdoors and many of our member do just that. Here is a documentary that illustrates what it is like. A very good, albeit low budget production, that shows the people, the trials and tribulations and the life of the outdoor grower. I got to see mine on Netflix. I found it very informative.

The Green Rush This sympathetic documentary looks at the issues confronting one group of Northern California pot growers and articulates the frustrations they face in a unique business that many regard as the most practical way to feed their families. For decades, outlaw marijuana cultivation has been a huge "hidden" industry fueling much of the region's economy, but pot farmers have remained subject to harassment and arrest by federal law-enforcement agencies.

sucks to see that guy put so much trust in his little friend Juan or whatever and then see him get stabbed in the back, that was shady

I liked how those younger guys used skeet shooting to make robbers think twice about stealing their plants.

Yeah, it is a real life documentary and real things happened. Many folks think they can just go to NorCal and start growing. The service this movie provides is showing all the trials and tribulations that growing entails. It shows the cost, the hard work and the consequences. It is good for people outside of NorCal to get a look in. I don't know how many threads where I have seen guys talk about just moving to Cali and doing that. Even the seasoned pros had problems. One of the guys did 6 years in a Federal Pen and lost everything he owns. Another fellow got ripped by his friend. One fellow said he had to invest $18k in that season. That is why I thought it was a good one to see.

Watched it with a few commercials on HULU it does justice to the labor and thrills involved. You need motion sensors and dogs etc. It was rotten the worker ripped him and even worse the couple who looked like a tsunami had hit em. I am changing up and veggin 24/7 indoorz til 2+ feet and then out to bloom to lower exposure. That way a couple crops can happen every 60-75 days with summer /Sun as the bloom light. While still having some full season ones going. Only thing I didn't like is how many folks know about their grows. Peace Bad...

Yeah it really sucked that he said that he trusted his life to that Mexican, and the guy stole from him. I guess what they are doing is sort of a criminal enterprise and that means some of the people you trust are criminals. I imagine just about every member on this site has a rip-off story to tell involving marijuana. One could generate a fairly large and on-going thread on such a topic.

I was surprised that the one senior fellow (Yellow?).. the big fellow that did time in the fed pen got had. He come across as a really street smart guy with decades of experience. I really thought he would have all his bases covered for such a thing.

All in all I would have to say the show was sad. It documented the trials and tribulations of an outdoor grower, which also documented human nature, which is generally wicked and full of greed. When I got into smoking pot we were all hippies that shunned such behavior. I still really never have looked at marijuana with dollar signs associated. I know that is naive, but that is just me. Too old to change now.

Red and Blue where fine (DEA came 2 yrs later). They had about a third of the crop destroyed by a bear, b/c Red's dumbass left some food in his camp, right above the garden in the tree line, where he was guarding.
What is a bear supposed to do climbing up the valley, let some half-assed fence and some stinky plants get in the way of this mans leftover breakfast burrito.
I am glad they didn't shoot the beat (even thought they were talking big).
People...Don't shoot the bears! If your dumbass leaves food around the grow op, in NorCal, expect bears.
What is on your state flag??? Oh yeah, a BEAR!
If you are going to shoot a bear, use rubber shot for a 12-ga. They sheriff gives them out around Nederland to all the residences.
