5" air duct to connect to 120mm pc fan?

I'm setting up a new cab and I'm using a 120mm pc fan for exhaust through a cooltube. The tube I'm using is 5" diameter, pretty much the same as the 120mm pc fan. I can't find 5" flex duct ANYWHERE online or offline, is anyone else using a 120mm fan with an air duct? What did you use? Any ideas?

I'd rather not go from 5" to 4" if I can avoid it...

Thanks

Never heard of 5" ducting. I'm sure it must exist somewhere. If you don't want to go to 4" then go to 6". 120mm is a 4" fan by the way, even though it is closer to being 5" than 4".

I've got 2 4" fans collecting dust because they were louder than my 4" Vortex. I didn't have a plan on how to hook them up to ducting, sorry. Maybe get 2 4" wall flanges and put one on each side of the fan? I don't know, expect it to look pretty ghetto.

I agree with hippydan, go with 6" tubing. A ventilation system is only as big as its smallest aperture and your fan will have less resistance to overcome than with a 4" line. 6" tubing with a 5" fan is a 5" system. But, 4" tubing and a 5" fan is a 4" system.

As for fitting them together...lol...that's beyond me. Other than a hefty investment in duct tape, I couldn't tell you. You could try strolling through the HVAC section at most any fair sized home improvement store and see if anything strikes your fancy.

It definitely exists because they make 5 inch HVAC fans, and my silly tent has 5 inch exhaust and intakes as well. With that said, I was not able to find any myself when I looked either. If you find some please share it here as I imagine you will help someone else out down the line

if you can go with 6" >>>do it for sure. btw.... if you clip the corners of a 120mm fan it will fit snugly inside the 6" flex

otherwise get two 6x4 reducers , clip corners of fan and put it inside one reducer, tape the 2 reducers together, attach the 4" flex and your golden

and yes, they do make 5" ducting >>found a roll on a jobsite one time, but i've never been able to find it for sale either

edit : 400th post whoopy fucking doo :D

Awesome! Thanks for the link! I ended up rigging something together using 4" ducting I had. For now I think it will work, but now that I see that I can buy it.... hmm.... :)

I used an adapter to go down to 4 inch, it works really well pull through the filter, up from the floor.
