The last bag I used, salts contents were thru the roof!!!!!!!!![1800ppm] Avoid lock out and flush yo coco!!!!!!!!!Beware of Botancare !! Flush, flush, flush and all will be well!! Hope this will help an IC brother or sister!!!

I use botanicare straight out of the bag. No rinsing before putting into my mix.

Dude this is the first bag of coco that I purchased that has had this high of a salt content . I used it after I flushed it and just transplanted a new batch of clones. Don"t understand where the mis information comes into play but since your so smart why dont u post some useful info.

Been using Botanicare coco for just about 3 years now. Never ever flushed prior to planting, never ever had a problem.

Just started using Botanicare coco. My 1.5 cu. ft. bag is less than 100ppm out of the bag. pH is a bit high, but not bad by any means.

I always fert mine with 300ppm solution before putting seeds or cuttings in it. So far all seeds made it and all 6 cuttings I took about 12 days ago are growing again with healthy roots.

I guess it could be possible they had some poorly rinsed coco in spots. Who knows, I do not know their process for rinsing. If its through rain water, I could see some bags being a little high. Or if its the coco that is closer to the ground under a pile of coco. That area might contain more salts than upper layers.

Botanicare coco is pretreated to help avoid nutrient lockout upon initial use. Rinsing it all out is actually counterproductive....true story. Try it straight out of the bag and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Botanicare Coco has never let me down in almost 4 years of using their product. It's possible that a bad batch could have gotten out but like I said in 4 years of coco growing with botanicare I've never once had an issue with it. I don't think anyone should worry and I think that this thread should really be about how GREAT botanicare coco is especially since there is no need to flush before use!

I'll add my experience as well, over 3 years of using unrinsed Botanicare coco with nothing but great results.

As stated above, it is precharged somewhat. I still like to wet it the first time with a 1/2 strength nute soln and its good to go.

Only coco I have used that gave me any problems was Sunleaves bricks. Liked the more coarse structure, but it was full of salts. That one I will rinse if I use again (and the stuff that Lowes sells-Burpee I think-rinse that stuff too).

Botanicare, Canna, GH - never rinsed and never a problem.

YMMV.

QFT

to the OP

listen you cant have a small amount of water run through a large amount of media and expect to get a reasonable reading as it will pick up salts along the way and give you a skewed reading...

btw i use Botanicare all day the shit rocks...

Quality control is always an issue, and with the med states blowing up like they are, problems are going to continue to pop up more and more. As the production/distribution
centers become busier, so will the mistakes become more glaring.

It's all well and good that "it should" be ready out of the bag, but if you're seeing issues, then check the basics first. Pro-Mix was good to go for years and years. Past two bales of it that I've bought have had major PH issues and general grief, and I've heard of a lot of people with the same issues. The same thing's are going to happen to the Coco brands at some point. If you haven't found a bad bag, then you're lucky, getting your stuff from a good distributor, or you just don't use enough to notice yet.

That said, I think I've only bought Botanicare brand twice, to be used as a supersoil base for the Organic stuff. Everything ran without a hitch, but Sunleaves is dirty cheap where I'm at, so I grin and bear it through the flush/buffer process. And yeah, Sunleaves and Hydrofarm brands both desperately need to be flushed. Not like it's a big deal to do. . .

I'm with u bro I feed clones and 2 week old seedlings the same as u and I precharge the coco with the same formula just adding senical grow, but I started checking the initial run off a couple of months ago because I was tryn to measure how fast each strain I grow absorbs nutes. When my meter went to 1800 ppm I check the calibration and it was cool. Like I said this is the first bag that I have purchased that had this high of a salt content usually the ppms on my trungun meter bounce between 100 and 200ppm> I was try to warn people there could be a bad batch out there. I will continue to use cocogro by botanicare. Didnt think a couple of people would resond like D.Bags!THanks for the cool input peace out !!
