worst advice given

What is some of the worst advice you have ever heard. Please try to make this non-growing advice only. Otherwise we'd probably wind up crashing the server posting all the bad growing advice given over the years.

Mine:
" Make sure you have on clean underwear in case you have an accident and have to go to the hospital."
If I'm in an accident that causes me to have to be taken to the hospital, I seriously doubt my underwear would be clean after the accident.

Anyone else?

My Dad told me the army would pay for my college after serving a tour in the army. So I joined in the summer of 1969. We didn't have a GI bill we had a GI joke. My old man was a certified dumbass and so was I for going in. 1969 they were killing 200 GI's a week and my father thinks it's a good idea? What was I thinking?
