Finding Weed in Sydney

Ozzie Stoners,

I'm heading to Sydney to start an epic backpacking trip in May for a couple of months. I was looking to see if you had any tips on procuring weed. I'm probably just gonna hit up the pubs in Kings Cross or wherever the young dopers hang out and ask the bartenders. I know as an American backpacker I'm probably high on the list for cops to search, but I'm willing to take the chance.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Other backpackers could be the place to start - there is usually a hook up within each hostel.

If the hostel is in King's Cross, your chances are good. Australians are usually pretty friendly, so just be yourself.

There's a daily bus from Byron to Nimbin, specifically for those who want to score. If you buy any there, keep it on your body, cos if the cops search the bus, they might look in bags, but highly unlikely to frisk you. Anything less that an ounce is confiscated, but nothing more.

I dunno why people are telling you to go for a 12 hour drive to byron or to vic to get on lol.

Its simple, look for young fellas in baseball hats...

Now if you look like this your gona get fucked up...

Any more than that and your gettin ripped off.

Dont make eye contact with the locals. Try not to speak. And drink lots of VB. It will put hair on your chest.

fatwa dont listen to jwp, im from usa and been living here for over a year.a lot of people here wear fannypacks here.2 days after i arrived here i scored some weed.dont try to hard to blend in once people hear your accent they will either ask you if you are canadian or american. i wouldnt go buy in kings cross,just talk to ask anyone you might think smokes. and if you hear some say "bush weed" dont buy it, its like our shwag.when you buy weed here its not like the states where they tell you if it haze or kush or afghani, they just call it weed.if you are staying in sydney, the actually city not the surrounding surburbs, take a train or bus to newtown, you should be able to score some there. btw they dont sell phillys or dutch masters, but they do sell blunt wraps, also not many places sell glass pieces or bongs, they sell shitty metal pipes, i know that they have a few headshops in martin place in sydney.
