Sunlight Systems UK supplies - FDP Wholesale (Warning)

Hey folks,

Well after all the talk about Sunlight Supplies gear I decided to get myself 2 blockbuster shades.

Well I got one last week and installed it. Came with some strange plug adaptor (which is fine) and is, as advertised, 100% sealed. Wohoo. My first actual properly sealed hood that is not a cool tube. Should be at £154.00.

So I went and got the second one and installed that today. First thing I note is that it comes with a uk plug directly on the hood. No adaptor. Ok, cool.

So I hang it all and just about to turn the fans back on and say to my mate that its great these shades dont even whistle they are so sealed.

Turn the fans on and whistle and hardly any airflow from exhaust. Check all ducting, fine. Check new hood and find it has air pissing out the sides. Compare to the other blockbuster to see if I have made a basic error only to find that the second hood has a completly different and totally crap designed glass housing / cover part. No sealent, a good 5-10 mm gap all way round.

So I have had to tape it up for now, but I am not having that. It kind of looks like comparing a cheap knock off version to the real one.

Who knows, I will take some shots later on. But will bring this up with the store and FDP.

But just to beware. Check your hoods in the shop. It could save you ALOT of ball ache. I am hoping I can just change the bottom / glass screen section but have a feeling the hinges are made differently.

I have taken pictures of the differences. I will upload them when I get a chance.

But here is todays update.

Went along to the store where purchased. Explained the problem and they said I could check their stock. They had 5 'proper' ones and 2 'dodgy' ones.

I showed them the diffs and they couldn't believe their eyes. And came to same conclusion as me, cheap knock off's.

So, he gave me a new one and I have now changed over and all is good!!! Just got to get this tape off of the crap one and take it back.

Where does the problem lie......

Well either FDP is putting out dodgy copies and mixing them into the normal stock. Some how I do not think so.

What I think has happened is that the stock that got recalled in the US has probably been shipped over by accident. Or they are trying to hide a couple hundred units amongst a big container full. Who knows.

I would be really interested to see pictures as well, its shocking to hear there are fakes slipping through the net here in the Uk

I purchased 3 air cooled lights ages ago, seems like the same 1's you described, connected them all to ducting with a fan, ran into the same problem straight away, air flow coming out the other end was terrible, so I tried it with the air pushing through the lights instead of sucking, air flow coming out the other end was worse than before, and thats when i noticed the gap around the side of the reflector, so i put a lighter next to it and it was sucking the flame through the gap, and thats when i seen that it was not a sealed unit, kinda annoyed at this point as it was a fucker trying to put them up and connected all the ducting, so i take it all down and they go back to the shop.

when i get to the grow shop i say to 1 of the guys, these lights do not work, there not a sealed unit, his m8 chips in at his point to say, we have sold hundreds of they lights with not 1 person bringing it back, lol, so i turn round and say to him, well i must be the first then, tell you what to do, show me 1 of they lights working the way it should and you can keep the money i payed for the 3 of them, set that fucking thing up just now, will take you 5 mins at the most and show me it working just now, dont even need to set up the 3 like i did, just the 1 will do, and the money is yours, but i want to see this done just now and that reflector working the way it should, shithead did not even try, got my money back np after that but they reflectors are a joke, cant believe they are still on sale as that was years ago that happened to me, but it sounds like the same reflector, glad you got it sorted in the end .

the hood is not a fake herbie its just 1 of the very 1st hoods what came to the uk over 1 yr ago . since then pg/FDP Wholesale have been working with sunsytems too inprove the hoods (your other hood new design) have you phoned up FDP Wholesale????

I have never implied the first hoods were fakes. Esp as I was aware that these were how they were originally in the states.

In my second post I explained that my store swapped them out. Further to that they sent their stock of the inferior shades back to FDP.

Perhaps people need to read posts properly... I struggle to see where the inference of fakes was posted.

I recenlty got me xxxl and i had the same thing...easy to over come and rewire, u should also get an adaptor/attachment with them that u can rewire...simple..its becasue they are coming from the usa..Im loving mine!!

Big reflectors is a dick thing for US wholesalers.
they try to make it bigger than the competition.
They are stupid big.
A small reflector works just as well.
It is a great way of spending a lot of your money.
