thanx for your interest....right now I have about a dozen large goldfish, ive been thinking about replacing them w/ talapia, but the system is working too well to change....
This is really nice to be able to put my energy into, as my situation wont allow me to grow herb.....

The larger "tree" is an orange that a friend gave me, and the smaller one is a lemon thats got a few fruits that are getting mature....now to find something to make with the lemons...

......just had an excellent quiche, made with chard and spinach grown here..... ....Im getting to like this food gardening....:)

Very cool man. You know I'm actually scared to do a vegetable greenhouse because it will bring heat onto me. Sad but true.

Look great though brother.

Very inspirational alaskind. Someday I'll have a similar aquaponic setup, I love how you've got the NFT and E&F side by side. Do you test the water for nitrates/ammonia? It lets you know how much growbed your fish can support. Most aquaponic systems run very high density with fish as the toxins from fish waste don't have a time to build up if you've got enough growbed to support it! If you've got more "fertilizer" than growbed you could also grow some edible plants for the fish to complete the cycle, although goldfish don't typically eat plants like "ducksweed" Looks great! Snails can be great too to eat up some algae. I'll be watching this one!

hippydan - thanx, this has turned out to be pretty theraputic for me, as I cant grow herb right now.... I love the simplicity of the aquaponic setup, very easy....I have to admit that I hadnt checked the nitritres/nitrites lately,...so I went and checked and they are pretty low, I guess the chard and lettuce are hungry :bump:
heres a few shots of the Geo-Qanset greenhouse frame that Ill be finishing soon....

very nice.
After we move this fall into our new house I want to convert part of the basement into a indoor winter garden for herbs and a few fresh veggies.....peppers, tomatos, etc.

Sounds like you are tired of paying through the nose for good veggies, wise...its been fun doing this veggie growing, the chard and lettuce grow so fast that Im giving some away to friends weekly... :)
Do you plan on lighting w/ flouros ?

yep!!
I got some of those pll's now with some peppers, herbs going at the moment for our outdoor garden at her relatives that we have.....freaking yard is humongous.
I was figuring the indoor thing would be herbs that you want fresh like Cilantro, Parsley, Mints (?), a small cherry tomato and pepper plant.
I was reading last night in this magazine about a corn out now that grows 3 feet tall and produces like 5-6 mini ears. I's called Jade Blue if I remember correctly because it turns blue when cooked.......might be a good novelty to try especially if I could sell it to the fancy restaurants to overcharge their stuffy clientele' with.
