That reminds me of a personal experience I had ...

I had a friend see some guy in his car, he ran after him in his underwear, the guy stole his radio

they also robbed his house

it was a crackhead..

That reminds me of a personal experience I had ... many years ago, before there were cell phones.

I lived in an apartment in a small apt. complex, and from time to time I would get the distinct impression that someone had been messing about with my vehicle overnight. I installed an alarm system in my VW bus, but with a catch -- when triggered, there was no blaring car alarm. Instead, it would signal a pager-sized receiver I carried on my belt. It went off one night. I peeked out the window, and saw my vehicle's overhead light on. I didn't bother wasting time putting my shoes on -- I grabbed my .44 Magnum deer rifle and went out to catch the perp in the act.

He had already gone through the glovebox and had pocketed a sheath knife, which I took back. Not dissuaded by his claims that "I didn't do anything, let me go", I made him take off his sneakers and marched him at rifle-point to a 7-11 around the corner -- advising the obviously distraught cashier to please call the police asap. Two marked police cars rolled up about 3 minutes later. I explained myself, they put the perp in cuffs, and I followed them to the police station to file a complaint, along with his stinky sneakers.

About 2 weeks later, one of the other residents of the apartment complex found a half dozen car radios hidden in the weeds along the fence-line, as well as a pile of 8-track tapes. Apparently, the perp had broken into a number of autos in the parking lot, and stashed the goods between each robbery. He never came back for his loot. I would like to think that looking down the business end of a loaded .44 magnum rifle scared him off. In court, his plea of innocence quickly changed to a guilty plea once the DA discovered that his witness had made it into court to testify. He got Time Served and 2 years probation on a 1st offense, although I'm pretty sure it was only the 1st time he had been caught and prosecuted. I hope it changed his life for the better ...

:tiphat:

Footnote: No, I would not have shot the perp if he had tried to run away -- that was the whole point about having him take off his sneakers. Without handcuffs, it seemed like the best way to pacify him.

I got the radio ripped out of my '72 El Camino one night in Yonkers NY. I installed a new one but screwed a few razor blades to the chassis of the new radio before putting it in. sure as shyt within a couple of months my car was broken into again but this time was just left a bloody mess. hanging fish hooks under the dash works too.......
