We need to show some level of responsibility in helping keep this program running without making it look to be a mockery.... the alternative is that the laws are going to change without our input, and it may not be for our benefit.

Jus' sayin',
-Chimera

The program is a mockery, the only real advances or changes made where forced upon them by the courts.

Your ideal situation, one where normal agriculture methods are utilized, such as greenhouses, and the like, exist. PPS grows and sells greenhouse cannabis for around 30 buck a kilo to HC and their mockery of a program, who then sell it with a nice middle man increase of 1600% give or take. If you follow their rules and regs its not permitted to compete, production and distribution is monopolized.

They are in defense mode, they have no legs with any integrity of which to stand. Any time they have tried to enforce their farce, they've only lost what little grip they have. The lack of trials is clear indication of this, as is the many awesomely huge licensed grows. One wrong move and they risk losing it all, again.

The only responsible thing to do is civilly disobey, shine a light on their vile joke of system, if we don't they'll take every inch they can get.

Permit and my observations :

At this time ( especially since the government has just been dissolved...thank god )..most politicians will be shying away from the MMJ subject..as it has been in place like a sore thumb , only because the courts mandated it.

It is good to hear from people who have had success with the MMAD and are helping those in need.
This year i hadn't received my DG renewal, 4 days before the expiry.
I contacted the MMAD office and made it clear they will be speaking to my attorney if the renewal didn't get here on time. The renewal showed up 2 days later, in the nick of time...I then noticed the photo ID card was missing...another call and they indicated they are backlogged on the cards and they will send them soon.

I flipped and reminded them that with no card..i technically couldn't safely deliver the medicine, as the original paper permit must be near your garden. I also don't suppose that a photocopied permit, dog eared folded in my wallet would impress law enforcement official.

3 months later an no card..i think they are enjoying too much Indica at the office.

If all of your things are in order, i wouldn't worry about the law interfering with you.

The real worry are city inspectors, fire department inspections
( yes..they do not need a warrant ) etc...and quite possibly insurance companies.
Please..from experience..do not have a ghetto, dirty grow.
Do not use black and white plastic, extension cords, heaters on the floor.

Get your electrical work installed professionally and get it inspected by the local or provincial authority.
This can be tricky because of privacy issues. Mentioning anything involving your permit is a little freaky..you and your designate have rights under the confidentiality of medical information.

Involving the city may be necessary, but i would advise you to get an attorney to contact them. I feel privacy is important..but having 4 goons in uniforms showing up at your door is not good for the "low profile" neighborhood image. IF need be visits can be arranged, and conditions of privacy respected.

Does anyone here have any experience with insurance companies and permits ? This is the last hurdle to cross if you are looking for full piece of mind.

heal the pain..

I tried to get insurance for growing in a house and could not get insurance (asked around and called a few places but wouldn't say I put in that much effort). Have heard people do have home insurance but don't be suprised if you have to put a little effort into it. Ended up in a commercial space and insurance is not hard to get.

PS

Agree with Chimera, if your going to do it, do it right. Nice clean grows that are up to code need to become the image the general public needs to think of when they hear medical grow not the gutted illegal gang run grow op they think of now. Lets get people realizing code means its safe and not a fire/mold risk. I am still suprised that many still don't understant that code was designed to makes things safe. It doesn't matter if it is a new tub or a ceiling fan or a new medicial grow in the basement.

I was raided 2 years ago. I had 12 buckets and 3 mother pots ready waiting for grow permission/card. The intention was a 15 plant grow for a lady friend.

Seeds and one gram of pot were on the coffee table in my living room. Under the table was my home made cloner too!

I don't know about other cities, etc but where I live the cops are smart about raids! I was getting off my bike at a local coffee shop a black suv pulls up and all of a sudden I'm surrounded by plain clothes cops...one of them holding a warrant for me to read "suspicion of stealing power "
A ride to my house and a wait for a power company guy happened before they would go in.
5 cops and one power guy came in with me as I showed them the first level rooms...the last room the grow room. The power guy asked to see my panel which is in the basement,3 cops followed us down while two went upstairs to search more rooms.
The power guy after inspecting the panel asked me to show him the meter. From across the road there were two power type lines 25 feet high connected to conduent pipe down to my meter. He then said there should only be one line, looked at me and laughed a little. " I don't think you could have done this, you don't have a boom truck do you?" "no! But I do have original pictures from the real-estate sale of the building before I took possession!

The power guy says for us all to go back in.... He explains to the 5 cops and I that he believes that I didn't know about the extra line and that it could have been there 50 years ago and no one realized it including the power company themselves, the building is over a 100 years old. The warrant was issued cause the power company every so many years check power lines in designated areas, how many years apart they do it he didn't know and I've already shown them the pictures! Lines were as before I bought the building.

I breath a sigh of relief a second time as one cop says we can't charge you for growing as nothing was planted!
The cops didn't take anything and left, they were actually in good cheer as they did so!
I understood why they raided me and most of all stayed polite... That means a lot as the raid only lasted about an hour and was done descreatly,no flashing lights, busted doors, or guns, etc!

I did lose my upstairs power for a day as the power guy was required to cut the second line, thankfully it was summer and the power company was on the ball getting me back on the grid.

(they ignored the gram of weed, never asked about it)

No charges for equipment or seeds! No charges period!

Jarff....I'm from the maritimes too!

thanks for that..it is what i figured. Yes..it is a long process getting
everything done properly...but it gives you good piece of mind.

Speaking of that, i just installed some Flame Defender auto extinguishers over the ballast area, and over the heater and fans in the room..a great thing. ( just don't bump your head on the damn thing..a 6 foot diameter spray of yellow chemical stain your skin ! )

They can't prosecute you for having some soil and lights. Now if you have seeds laying around thats a different story.

Good story Budshot.I feel a little safer now,I say there is no smoke in house but i,m sure they would find a few pieces if they looked hard enuff around my house.Man it doesn,t take much for them to gain entrance to your property.Seems you don,t live in the same part of Maritimes as me b,cause the cops here would have gotten me for something. They always seem to be out for blood.Small town, small minded cops.btw I,m in Northern N.S. area roughly,125 km from Hfx.
If the power company was concerned with the power then you,d think they would come and check it out by themselves, but I guess they were alerted by the cops, thinking you were robbing power or had an extra line snuck into your house.
I had af who had a grow going on in his basement and a guy from the Power co.came to the door and said he was going to change the meter, and that was the end of it.No cops,no more power ppl. He wasn,t long destroying a nice bunch of trees. But I guess a man gotta do what a man gotta do.
Anyhow nice meeting a fellow Maritimer. There a few of us on here.

The cops had told me it was nova scotia law that drug enforcement officers were required to be with the n.s. Power guy. Most times that power is being stolen is for grow ops!

I'm from the HRM,12years and C.B before.

Great smilies there CyrilSneer
