any additive with humics will act as a PH down. floralicious plus is a popular one. might as well get benefit of the additive while lowering your PH.

lemon juice will work temporarily

Lemon juice or vinegar will work but are astronomically expensive compared to pH down. The bottle of pH down is more expensive but 0.1 ml pH down=2,000-3,000 ml of vinegar or lemon juice.

For that matter: pH down usually is nitric acid for grow, and phosphoric acid for bloom, or in case of General Hydro both mixed.

i use distilled white vinegar from the supermarket. it is 5% acid. mandala mike from mandala seeds recommends this as a cheap and effective method of PH down.

it works good, it's cheap, and it's not some exotic chemical you're adding to the soup

I'm a week late but, Orchard Hardware Supply carries PH up/down from GH in my area.

Try to check em out, or a similar story to OSH in your area perhaps.

Use what I use, Pink Grapefruit Juice the plants just love it and it's chock full of phosphoric acid and lots of nice naturally occuring sugars in there too! :canabis:

Lemons, Limes, Grapefruits, Oranges all work excellent and are totally organic!

Powdered citric acid and it also has benefits for the plant that the others do not.

I can't believe it took 14 posts to get to citric acid! It's very strong and very good and very cheap (kitchen section - supermarket) :tiphat:

Spurr has some good posts concerning citric. It increases availability of phosphorous but doesn't alter your npk.

Earth Juice Natural Down. it's lemon juice in a powder form without the salt. Works great and is completely all-natural!

i would ONLY use powdered citric acid.......but i would mix it into a quart of water so it's easier to apply..i would NEVER use lemon juice, or grapefruitjuice........these WILL attract insects.

Battery acid (sulphuric acid) also works. =)

Very well I might add. I dilute it with distilled water by adding 8oz of sulphuric to 1 Gallon(minus 8oz) of distilled water. Never add water to sulphuric acid....always add the acid to the water....very important point.
