hello all. i have quite the dilemma. i just popped 5 sour bubble seeds and i got 3 females and 2 males. i am medical and have botha plant limit and a space limit as my room is pretty tight. i am not a breeder bu i did plan on making atleast 2 seed runs in the future crossing my 2 best sativa moms with a sour bubble dad. i didnt plan on having the male so soon as i was just looking for a good girl this run. but this dude seems extrordinary. he reeks like kush 4 weeks from seed is super stout and branchy. dark almost blue 13 ya 13 finger leaves. and this is only 4 weeks from seed. my question is what are my best options.

can i just leave him in veg and not worry about pollen and just clone and toss him when he gets too big?

or throw him in flower and collect pollen? ive never done this so any advice is great. ill post a pic of this wicked stud tomarrow.

Pollen travels! There is time before the balls show and they pop, but it is a game of chance.
Vegetation is sustainable, cloning, pruning.

Good luck.
Ya' always hurt to lose a prize stud.

I think timing is everything.

I think timing is everything.

I think timing is everything. Male plants will reach full maturity and yield pollen in a far shorter flowering cycle than the females will, by genetic imperative. Pollen doesn't have anywhere near as long a "shelf-life" that mature seeds do. Heat, strong light, high humidity or moisture will all work to destroy the pollen as well. I wouldn't count on the viability of pollen for more than 60 days even when stored under optimum conditions.

If you were planning to create seeded females in this particular run, and use the same male in some future run, then your choice is clear -- take clones of the male And then flip both male and female plants (not clones) at the same time. By using quiescent vegetative techniques, the male clones can be used in subsequent runs. Of course this only works if you have an alternative space to keep those clones in.

I cannot wait for your pictures of the male sour bubble -- 13 leaf fronds, OMG. That male plant must be huge and happy ...

You could take a cutting and get plenty of pollen for chucking. If you've got good water you can stick a cutting in a cup and a little feed will sustain it for several weeks if you're lucky. You only need a very small amount of pollen for small grows.

You can also place your male plant on dark piece of paper and scrape up the pollen that falls. You'd want to chuck as soon a possible for viability. I wouldn't store it unless you're up on partial drying and refrigeration techniques. It can be kept weeks if not longer in the fridge.

If your cab, tent, closet etc has active exhaust, it's like a vacuum cleaner. Any loose pollen floating in the air may be pulled through your intakes and fertilize your grow more than you want. I've had this happen got a 1/2 ounce of seed in a 1/4 lb grow. The seeds are good stuff but the 1/2 ounce of smoke would have been great as well.

HUGE its funny I couldn't throw this male out myself, I held on to him longer then any other, but never got to use him. I am sour bubble male searching right now and starting some ambitious breeding projects.

The planned female for this guy is the tiny bomb pheno of spacequeen. Now how do I want to stagger the flowering so I don't end up with an entirely seeded crop. Ideally I would like to pollinate 1 of the 6 clones that will be in flower at the time. Any advice or suggestion for the first time pollenchucker.
