So let me make sure I have the sequence of events that you would have preferred completely clear in my own mind.
They were going to fall back, keep the guy with the knife barricaded in the house, call in SWAT, wait for that response (any idea how long? I won't even speculate, since I know that hollywood != real life), and then the SWAT team was going to toss a flashbang in the window, at which point the kid with the knife would throw his weapon away, neatly interlace his fingers on top of his head, and lay face down on the floor.
Am I getting this right? Because if so, I think my use of the word "imbecile" and your reaction to it may have something to do with one another...
I really didn't mean to be antagonistic, although I certainly see how it could have come off that way. But in all honesty...the only thing more disgusting to me than a power-hungry, dirty cop is someone who refuses to accept that actions always have consequences and who constantly shovels off blame to parties other than the one who actually deserves to have the finger pointed at him...
Not to take this quaint little discussion off track (god forbid!), but the people who can't take responsibility for their own actions and have such blanketed hatred for a group of people based on the actions of some are far more damaging to our sad excuse for a "movement" than cops will EVER be.

...it is obvious you dont understand what a flash bang does. If a flash bang goes off in the room you are occupying you will indeed be on the floor and quite compliant when Swat makes its entrance.
It is not complicated.
How many times have you used a flashbang or had one tossed in a room you were in? (I'm gonna guess never, along with the rest of the posters in this thread, since we keep saying "flashbang" as though this were a videogame...)
Just curious where such depth and breadth of knowledge comes from...
And I would ask you the same question - what other reaction would you expect from police when this lunatic is running around jumping on old ladies' cars and waving knives at bar patrons, then running into occupied dwellings? Were they supposed to bake him a fucking pie and ask him nicely to come out and talk?

Maybe we just have different life experiences to draw from...I'm real curious how old the majority of the vehement "cop haters" on this forum are...probably not much younger than me...pretty strange how far I've made it in life while doing the same illegal things as you without having my shit pushed in by the police...maybe it has something to do with not being a burnout that smells like patchoulli...hmmmm
if a post is getting you that riled up, maybe you should examine why...is it because it hits too close to home? You realize that the VAST majority of the responsible, intelligent, upstanding members of society that still smoke pot probably got to be that way by playing the game a little smarter than the other side rather than standing in the street yelling "fuck the police!".

what fantasy? if the cops had withdrawn they would not have been in the hall to be charged upon by the "victim"

i lived on top of a retired cop a couple years ago, and the fucker called the cops every chance he got, and when the cops did show they automatically sided with him.. even went as far as trying to tell me things like filming my girlfriends in the yard wasnt illegal.. when it IS.. he was a piece of shit, and all the cops who sided with the old retired cop where just as bad in my opinion..
another buddies father is a highway patrol man.. SUPER NICE guy.. i help my buddy do work for his dad all the time..

You do not withdraw and give up the house. You keep the suspect contained. Had they withdrawn, the wouldn't have known where in the house he was or if he had a cache of weapons further endangering the lives of the team. The cops were justified.
If the dude had such profound mental issues, maybe his parents shouldn't have let him buy knives and holsters and run around the neighborhood unsupervised. Guess what, most people that do dumb shit like this have mental issues. There is no excuse for what he did and when you charge at any armed person (no just the po) with a knife, expect to be shot, possibly, to death. It's an unfortunate issue all around and I wish it never happened but some of your comments are absurd and cross the line.
