Yes, The first take (in May) the buds were not as dense, but the smoke was better.

Outdoors...repeat outdoors...Indoors...I don't know shit.

Another good trait of SE asian strains is mold resistance. Outdoors that's important.

Hey all, Could I get some background information on the Vietnam Black? (Not the VB/Thai cross.)

Specifically, I had heard of some "Indica" influence. True or not?
If so, what kind?
Did Ace ever release it pure, in the past?
Does it have a xmas tree or bush type shape?
I imagine that it's the more odiferous parent in this cross?
Thais are typically sweet smelling, so the more earthy tones come from the VB?

Thanks in advance and enjoy the show! :)

Thanks Mayan!

I have only grown out two Orient Express plants (I think OE is fashioned, in part, from the Vietnam Black. One was a very squat, short plant with thin leaves and furry branches - the other was a many-headed beauty - whippy branches. Loved them both - the high was phenomenal. But it's been awhile (and I'm a bit buzzed on bangi haze) so maybe others with more experience would be able to say more.

Hello inquest,

There's maybe a hint of indica influence coming from the Vietnam Black side (vietnam black was originally a cross of a vietnamese sativa and a chinese sativa/indica) but VB x Thai is very sativa dominant. Very vigorous, branchy, high yielding, tasty and enjoyable sativa for day time. The earthy ones are more VB influenced.

VB x Thai is more sativa but if you want to try the closest to 'pure VB concept' then i'd highly recommend you Orient Express.

I know!!! oldhaole knocks out some sexy ladies!!!

Thanks for the info Dubi! I've found lots of contradictory information out there with regards to canna, so it's nice to get it close to the source. ;) Yeah, I'm very interested in spicy earthy type tones. Most of what I've grown so far has had very sweet smells that overlay that pervasive skunk odor. Variety is the spice of life!

Day temp: 82F
Night temp: 68F
Branching like crazy!! I should have no shortage of clone stock if I have to trim like I think I will!! :)
Stems and petioles smell good and a bit veggie when rubbed. Odor control should be "fun." lol

I wasn't expecting this for a little while longer, although this is my first experience with both the strain and 12/12 from seed. Very anxious to see how this pans out time wise, seed to harvest. :)

Temps:88F/69F FWIW, temp is taken at the canopy for day-hightemp, and just outside the box for night-lowtemp.
Run off water: Ph7

Thanks Dubi, Primeform!

They're starting to move now! :) One reached up and touched a lamp yesterday. Only a little scarred, though. ;) I'm keeping the lamps as low as possible and as between plants as I can. Trying to get as much intracanopy light as possible. Spurr was saying how differences in spectrum intra/extra-canopy can effect a plants stretch via their competition responses. He was talking about red/infrared, but if I add light it's gonna be full spectrum!

Hey Dubi, Pebble was saying your Meao male seems to have a lite influence when it comes to aroma in his MalawiXThai thread. Have you noticed this or any other traits that he passes/ doesn't pass on? I have to say that these are the best looking plants I've grown thus far! Not a single mutant trait and lots of vigor! I cant wait to see what comes from my pack of G.hazeXThai. :) :) Although, I'm gonna have to wait quite a while before I plant them.... :(

Edit: Oh yeah, the last two let me know they're girlies!!! :) 4/6, male to fem for those counting. ;)

What a difference a week can make! They've basically doubled in height and almost doubled their number of nodes. Got two males already dropping pollen, although it looks like they'll keep that up for some time to come. :)

Tallest/shortest: 14"/8"
AVG node count: 7
Leaves are becoming more slender.
First true leaves on three are yellowing.... Probably the small planters, but I'm not keen to repot untill they've slowed their stretch abit. :) This last week they exploded!! If they pull that stunt again I'll be forced to top 'em....

For those more experieced with VBxThai; How many weeks do they stretch before they start to slow down?

:thank you: all for watching!!!
